I'm 100 percent sure that supreme court will affirm Tinubu tomorrow. Of course there is no honour or integrity among them. Their conscience has since been mortgaged. A court that affirm Akpabio and Lawan can go lower.. Every adult that followed the election knew that Tinubu didn't win and truly he came a distant 3rd. after Atiku. These are 5 take away after tomorrow. They are actually 6 but the sixth one is scary.
1. The economy will continue the free fall. This time more rapidly. Expect 5000 to a dollar.
2. Criminality will assume more dangerous dimension. Now people believe that someone with Tinubu"s dirty past can amount to something. There is no moral authority to convince otherwise.
3. Unrest due to worsening economic situation . The unrest will likely start from unlikely place, the north.
4. Astronomical corruption. It will be official that corruption pays . It will be free for all looting and corruption.
5. Those enabling these shenanigans will suffer more.
6. Hmmmm

But there was integrity amongst them when they made Peter Obi Governor? Or there are new set of judges now in SC who were not there in 2007?

Peter obi was already an elected governor before being impeached for not allowing corruption to breathe in his government's infancy. He then fought to win his rightful mandate back.

Your Tinubu's case is entirely different on so many levels so don't use it as a yardstick to judge the efficacy of past or present supreme court judges.

Peter Obi's was adjudicated by thesame set of judges. He fought? Through his lawyers and was made a governor by this same judges; was even allowed 8years against his adversary's prayers in court.
Let the court do it's work. You cannot praise the same set of judges in certain instance and condemn them in another coz it wouldn't favor you.
Unlike you, I don't see Tinubu or Obi in this matter. I see judges doing thier work.

Who would have believed that a purportedly certificateless Bubu whom Emilokan had bragged about making the President was such a brilliant genius after all?

God and life always have a way of humbling the proud and arrogant.

See everything crumbling around him with nowhere to turn to and now I'm sure he'd be hoping the Supreme Ice Cream Court unseats him for some face-saving. Now, just imagine for a moment that the SC sacks him and enthrones anyone of the other two or makes Akpabio the moronic thief the interim President. What would happen to the present litany of appointments this Alibaba has been dishing out and aren't we going to be starting all over again? Won't the present appointees be doing as much harm as they can in whatever MDA they are before they grudgingly leave the seats? Talk about gargantuan sabotage from every angles.

We are in deep sheeeeet.

Recipe for disaster however you look at it...

The Okoso or Cardoso he appointed as CBN governor doesn't even look like one who can lace the roguish Emewere's shoes.

No one can even give a concrete figure of how much Naira is in circulation and how much Dollar has been looted from our foreign reserves and hoarded by all them thieves in every political and private space.

Nigeria is a country where anyone with the right connection could walk into or order the minting and printing press to roll out Naira notes which they now use to mop up every single Dollar they can sniff at any rate.

One can imagine the racket going on at the CBN and Minting and printing plus Treasury house.

Very soon, and this is no joke, Nigerians will be moving around with Naira notes in wheelbarrows even to go buy a loaf of bread.

This is how crumbled Nigeria has gotten.

What a shame and disgrace.

This is the definition of a dysfunctional government/society.

I don't support Tinubu, Atiku or Obi, so calm down. Reason being simple...no plan to diversify our economy.

1. The economy will continue the free fall. This time more rapidly. Expect 5000 to a dollar.

The naira is falling because we

a) rely on one source of income, and have done so for decades
b) when the price of the thing falls we take a loan
c) right now, thanks to years of borrowing...which was necessary, otherwise, we would have been having horrors of zero payment of salaries for years...we are all loaned out.
d) Tinubu has to save money, hence the defence of the naira had to end.

The problem with relying on oil is that borrowing is inevitable when oil prices crash below our fiscal breakeven. As has happened for a very long time.

If Tinubu had not been voted in, the same issue would face Obi or Atiku...it is that simple. Right now, as at May 2023, debt was eating 90% of our oil revenue. You have to look for money to pay for things, and cutting the budget for defending the naira, as well as cutting subsidy money...was the only way out.

Also, Obi came third, Tinubu came first. I stopped believing in rigging of elections since 2003...because most of the time, the opposition was too divided to win .

2. Criminality will assume more dangerous dimension. Now people believe that someone with Tinubu"s dirty past can amount to something. There is no moral authority to convince otherwise.

So that means that when criminality was happening under all our leaders past, they had dirty pasts too?

Right.

I doubt many Nigerians care about Tinubu being a criminal....especially since a lot of our past leaders too have facilitated massive looting of the treasury. Crimminality has been entrenched, because most of us Nigerians are not ready to fight it.

(Yeah, did not vote for Tinubu because his records were iffy. Gani Fawehinmi does not get on your case if it were otherwise.).

3. Unrest due to worsening economic situation . The unrest will likely start from unlikely place, the north.

Yes, on this I agree. But what else can the government do? Remember we are spending money paying back the loans we took during the lean years of 2014-21. Unless someone finds some magic to find us extra revenue to the tune of 100 trillion naira in the next 2 weeks, nothing is going to change.

Again, we are paying the price for lack of diversification and oil dependency for decades.

I agree, the government too has messed up (increased spending on government officials could not have helped), but right now, there is no magic any leader can do to bring in extra money...except by loans. Even if it is Obi.

4. Astronomical corruption. It will be official that corruption pays . It will be free for all looting and corruption.

Erm, I think it has been official that corruption pays since the 1960's if not earlier. cheesy . Again, Nigeria is not ready to fight corruption because most of us benefit in one way or the other, and those who are not benefiting hope to benefit.

After all, I see APC people who were attacking PDP well well, when PDP was in power, now excuse APC messes. Then there are PDP and LP hypcrites who attack APC, and defend PDP as being corruption free.

Corruption issues are not going to change in Nigeria. It is in us. Last attempt to deal with corruption ironically was Buhari millitary rule, and even back then some 'funny things' were happening.

5. Those enabling these shenanigans will suffer more.

We have been suffering in Nigeria for decades. (Have heard this line since I was a child...we are suffering.). The problem is we do not want to take the hard road to become a developed nation...which means total removal of subsides, fighting corruption, improving revenue from tax, diversifying the economy (which means more mechanized farming, and also making sure revenue gets extracted from the mining that happens all over the country illegally..especially in Zamfara self.), and ultimately becoming an industrial nation that exports manufactured goods and services.

The problem with Nigeria, and even Africa is that since idnependence, we spend money on mass welfare projects because we had to lift up a large number of poor people. The problem is, we did it not on the back of taxes, but on the back of raw materials revenue...which after a while was no longer sustainable....

Take palm oil...welost out because nations like Malaysia and Indonesia, not only did palm oil plantaitons, they mechanized their farms. Somethink we did not do.
6. Hmmmm

If it is

1.Army coup...possible, but won't change nothing. In 1983, ECONONMY was falling, Buhari overthrew Shagari, and the economy improved and we became a developed nation cheesy cheesy cheesy wink. Yes, I am lying here.

2.Divide the country...lol. Most Nigerians do not want division. Biafra is not coming, because the SS is still opposed to the idea.

I like the idea of a revolution...but the new revolutionary government would still face the same thing. High debt servicing thanks to years of low oil prices forcing us to take a loan.

So, nothing is going to change.

Russia in 1917, did a 'revolution'. So, Russians lived a nice life, eh? In my opinion, it took until the 1960's before the USSR had a standard of living that did not involve famine or war.

The truth is, Tinubu is being forced by circumstance to make hard choices. Choices we should have made years ago (and yes, it is partly his fault why we did not make those choices.).

If GEJ had removed subsides in 2012 totally, by now we would hav elong since been over the worst. He did not, here we are. Ditto Buhari in 2015/6. Buhari wanted to be elected.

As a result, subsidy spending induced a huge debt. On top of the debt we had from being forced to take loans due to low oyel prices.

Now we cannot pay for subsdies ...for oil to be subsidised to say N40 per liter...because we do not have the money.

If Supreme Court Judges fail to rule against Tinubu and APC based on recent overwhelming evidence then it means that Nigeria's fate is sealed as a failed nation devoid of morals or dignity..... Tinubu's win at the supreme court is a boost for criminality and everything bad in Nigeria.... Students can proceed to forge academic records without any consequences.... politicians vying for political office can present forged documents to INEC and win election without any consequences.... simply put, Tinubu's victory at the supreme court will be the final nail to the death of our constitution..... Nigerians should be ready to march in protest for justice if this happens because there is nothing left to hold on to as far as Nigeria's international image and the economy is concerned. Once our economy totally collapses which is inevitable as dollar rises against the naira, Tinubu and his political cronies will have nothing to lose as their families and major investments are not in Nigeria.... The right thing must be done to salvage this nation before it is too late.....

You said "The truth is, Tinubu is being forced by circumstance to make hard choices. Choices we should have made years ago (and yes, it is partly his fault why we did not make those choices.)......." I do not agree as Tinubu's legacy is everything wrong with our society, he should be the last person to become Nigeria's president especially in this critical times so even if there are tough decisions to be made, he is not the right person to make these decisions... The fact that he was part of those who frustrated Jonathan effort to remove fuel subsidy shows that he does not mean well for this country...... Removing Tinubu as president is the best thing that can happen to Nigeria because justice will be served.... The process through which we choose our leaders matters and this goes a long way in attracting foreign investments we need as a nation.... No sensible investor will invest under this criminal government and a dying economy.... Tinubu's unguarded removal of fuel subsidy and CSU forgery revelation have caused major damage to the country's economy and international image. It may take years of consistent good government policies to restore hope and genuine development to this country.... It will be callous for supreme court judges to validate crime by ruling in favour of Tinubu.... Posterity will judge them harshly.....

You speak as if you've not been in Nigeria for the past 8 years..... Can't you see that the total figure the government dished out over the years as subsidy payments was inflated? Can you also not see that some of the funds were looted in the name fuel subsidy by NNPC and others in powerful places within Buhari's government... Even if truly our national spending on subsidy rose as a result of increase in oil price why is it that the government continues to shy away from auditing the NNPC over the years and make genuine effort to determine the actually amount of fuel Nigerians consume per month or annually.... Subsidy regime was a cash cow for those in government because most of the figures we are been presented with are cooked up as a result of deep rooted corruption within the system.... it was a looting bazaar....
