South Africa are investigating Tom Curry’s claim that Springboks hooker Bongi Mbonambi called him a “white c***” during England’s narrow Paris Rugby World Cup semi-final defeat on Saturday.

Curry made the allegation to referee Ben O’Keeffe just after the 20-minute mark of the hard-fought semi-final, with the exchange picked up by the ref mic.

“Sir, if their hooker calls me a white c***, what do I do?” Curry inquired of O’Keeffe.

“Nothing, please,” responded the official, before adding a few moments later, “I’ll be on it,” in what may have been an unrelated comment.

The alleged incident itself could not be heard on the television broadcast.

After the final whistle, there was a noticeable altercation between Curry and the 32-year-old Mbonambi, who appeared to refuse to shake the England forward's hand and marched off down the tunnel.

A statement from South Africa Rugby said: “We are aware of the allegation, which we take very seriously, and are reviewing the available evidence.

“We will engage with Bongi if anything is found to substantiate the claim.”

Mbonambi is among the defending champions’ group of senior leaders and finished the game as captain after Siya Kolisi’s substitution.

Curry refused to comment on what was said post-match, though did confirm that he felt Mbonambi’s remark had crossed the line.

Both teams are able to refer any incident of concern to the match citing commissioner within 24 hours of the final whistle. The citing officer then has 12 hours to determine if they will lay in charges.

To be Honest I envy you guys the South Africans, the White ass licking here is on another level, But what I noticed is that white ass licking here in Nigeria is more prevalent among the Southerners. I am a Nigerian but a Nothern Nigerian, we are also suffering from the Igbo Drugs business, alot of young people I know are hooked on Crystal Meth which the Foolish Igbos are responsible for selling it over here we can't do nothing because they are also Nigerians. I support you 100% and also the Drug militia men in SA I hope we also get same drugs Militia over here to deal with those miscreants, deport all the drug pushers, don't show those fuckrrs any mercy. Very Loud and obnoxious lots! When the disturb other people's peace and when these people react, they will start shouting JEALOUSY!! Please deal with all the Drug pushers in SA! I support you 100%. SA is ahead in Africa because you guys aren't ruled by illiterates and Criminals, our President is an ex Drug Baron!! Its sickening 😪😢

Yep! Just know that Not all Nigerians ass lick the whites, I guess the Population of Northern Nigerians in SA is less than 100 and I am very sure they don't sell drugs like the Stupid Ibos tarnishing our country's image

I'm well aware that people of one country can't all think alike however, it seems like the elevation of whiteness and the obsession with whites in general is a Nigerian thing, because even on other platforms like Twitter for eg. Nigerians are forever licking the a$$es of white people. It has even become something South Africans ridicule Nigerians with as seen with countless memes mocking Nigerians' love for white people. I pretty much doubt it's a thing specific to the Northern side of your country only

The population of Northern Nigerians on Social Media is not up to 2 million out of 100M population, Notherners are not on social media, they are conservative Muslims, and mostly illiterates, they dont immigrate in numbers and most of them that usually immigrate end up in places like Sudan and Saudi Arabia, I know 100% the Nothern Nigerians living in SA are Students and they are very few. Northerners don't asslick the whites mainly because of Religion, infact the whites (Colonials) favored the Nothern Nigerians and put their asslickers under the Bus and that favoritism exist till date.
White Ass licking is mainly thing of Southerners, because they don't value their culture
