Court Halts Fubara’s Impeachment, Orders Assembly, CJ To Maintain Status Quo by GuruboiNaija(op): 5:38pm On Nov 01, 2023
A Rivers State High Court sitting in Isiokpo Division, Ikwerre Local Government Area, has issued an interim order restraining the Rivers State House of Assembly and the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, from carrying out any action with respect to the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Also restrained are the Deputy Speaker, the Clerk of the House and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi.

Presiding Judge, Justice Ben Whyte, issued the order following a suit filed by the governor.

Justice Whyte directed that the parties should maintain status quo, pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.

The judge adjourned the suit to 14 November, 2023, for hearing of the motion on notice.

Nigerian judicial system and bastardization of the rule of law go hand in hand.

No law court can impede lawmakers from carrying out their constitutional duties.

How did the one instituted by Edo state deputy governor end? No court can stop the legislature from performing their duty..Thats why immunity covers them whenever they are sitting in their chambers

I have said it to bring sanity to Nigerian judiciary is simple

Any judge that have 5 of their cases overturned by a higher court in 10 years should be debenched

Enough of giving injunctions and judgement without consequences

I have said it before I'll say it again, the 2027 pdp presidential candidate will be chosen in aso rock, the same will happen in 2031. By the time tinubu is done, there won't be an opposition party in Nigeria... A pseudo opposition party will emerge in a single party system.

Way to go, play the game the way that drunk will understand.

The next step is to find a way to recall all Rivers state assembly members that wanted to impeach my governor.

That was what I thought

Otherwise they could stop the Lawmakers from making State Laws

Very impractical
