Spy360:The thing sef be say Wenger dey use academy in EFL then and we'll sometimes go far(as it's mostly top EPL teams that normally eliminate us) But now, even our second 11 no deh ever pass first round ![]() |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 7:50am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Jodera:To be fair, most teams then aren't as competitive as they are now. Plus no one then took the cup seriously until Mourinho joined Chelsea, then Pep. For example, West Ham played their PL team apart from Antonio. That means they are pushing to win it. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 8:14am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Spy360:Naahhh, small teams took it seriously then (tho not as much as their EPL). They normally do a mix of first and second 11 while most big teams do a mix of 2nd 11 and academy players. Even when Mou came, he still didn't stop most big teams from using academy in EFL. If you remember, under Emery and Wenger we were still using Academy boys |

daveP:Na wa o...we lose, Havertz, we draw, Havertz, We won, Havertz. Now tell me exactly what Nelson did yesterday. Almost everybody here agreed Patino was too fragile and raw to play in EPL. We are all too fixated on Havertz that we didn't notice the stinkers other players are dropping every week. ESR that played last weekend, aside his 6 yard assist, what exactly did he do? Martinelli was brought in to change the game but baba kept doing backpass. The earlier you all realize Havertz is not our main issue, the better. Make una leave the guy alone. |

Let me add that Jorginho did his bit yesterday. I am one of his critics here but we need to say the truth at times. And I don't see how any of the goals were his fault. Our attack let us down yesterday. Shoot? No... Cross? No. Just passing aimlessly around. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:24am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Jodera:Yes mid table EPL teams took it seriously back then but they don't have access to the money and invariably the quality of players they have now back then. Imagine West Ham having access to buy players like Ward-Prowse, Paqueta, Kudus , etc back then? Things have really changed from that Wenger era o. If Wenger fields those premature academy players now, he will get trashed by Brentford, West Ham, Newcastle , etc of this world by the quarter final stage latest. |

Spy360:You are right and wrong at the same time. Yea, both Partey and Jorginho differs. Partey do drop at the CB too. The difference is that Partey like to hold the middle. You won't find him at the wing or ahead of the middle circle during buildup. Jorginho likes to roam to create fluidity which exactly is his main issue. He is not always there whenever you need him. Partey would still stay and secure the box during counter attack but Jorginho will approach the ball carrier instead. That's the difference between the two. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:30am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Spy360:Well, his best is not good enough for a team that sets sight to win at least one major trophy in a season. In a tight football match those who play football know that there will come a time in the match when u just need one player to take the initiative and turn the tide of the game. Anytime the ball gets to Jorginho, and he just decides to either lay a safe pass to one of the back 4 or when he gets caught up and he has to put his body on the line to win an unnecessary foul; I just shake my head. I have played with such players before and I know how frustrating it can be especially for the attackers. They will be left flat footed and just be running around waiting for that incisive pass that will never come. |

BlueRayDick:Fair point. Reason why our 2nd 11 no be am at all. As a big team, our 2nd 11 suppose go toe to toe with that West ham team they paraded ystdy. Flogging us 3-0 no suppose be so. (Don't worry about our goal as I see it as nonsense goal ) |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:33am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Jodera:I never even bother to watch the goal we scored cos NEPA took light immediately after their 3rd goal and I was in no mood to waste subsidy-less petrol on a match past 80 mins with my team 3-0 down. |

Spy360:Omo, which kind talk be this. After coming up with ridiculous “off the ball” excuse for Harvertz, here you are again with a new role for Jorginho. You are coming up with this “transit passes around the 3 defense” excuse because he performs woefully at the simple responsibilities expected of a dm. Even with the transition passes talk, Jorginho still average at it sef. Besides, if he can’t transit passes around the defense to the attack, why then is he playing at all. This is expected of all dms. Partey does this and provides more defensively and attack wise just like many other dms do. Even your statement that someone is “stuck in the 90s football” makes your defense of Jorginho more ridiculous because he doesn’t even know how to carry out the minimum responsibilities expected of a dm talk less of taking up more responsibilities expected of modern day dm. Besides, why should we keep playing Jorginho or have players like him if they will keep being average at the responsibilities expected of them. Why should we go into games with them hoping for a miracle to happen for them to perform. We benefited immensely from Partey’s presence in our games because he gives more just as Rodri does for Man city. So all these “new roles” and excuse for Jorginho and the likes don’t cut it. |

Jodera:Speak up. Bring his stat or whatever. The reason he is not getting any backlash is because he is our favorite here and because of his past exploits. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by iamoyindamola(m): 8:34am On Nov 02, 2023 |
I hope this will be the last season for partey, jourghino, elneny and cedric We need to move on from these guys patino/azeez can and should replace jourghino, we are in contact with quintin timber hhe can replace partey, elneny is no addition or subtraction he can stay all season on bench and still no care Juve want partey, lazio want jourghino as per sarri Enough is enough we have a foolish coach that twerk at chelsea vomit i don't know why he keep on wasting money on deadwood chelsea players |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 8:51am On Nov 02, 2023 |
mostob:I don't need to bring stats or whatever on ball wey we both watch not too long ago. Even all rating sites gave ESR a very high rating(different sites o) and Havertz was the poorest in all the whole site amongst our first 11. I guess they're all so bias against Havertz and love Smith Rowe(and others too) Moreover, I dunno which backlash you want us to give ESR when he hardly plays any match. Match he started, played well and gave assist is whom you want us to give backlash to? Na wa ooo You sef know say everybody dey receive backlash for here if you no perform whether you be favourite or not.(Martinelli, Saka are even examples) If Havertz is receiving Backlash consistently, then it just means he's not doing something right. Let him do something right and let it be obvious, even his strongest critics will surely acknowledge him.. If you are in doubt just look at Sod with Rice |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 9:08am On Nov 02, 2023 |
Jodera:Why bringing Havertz into this again? I mentioned Nelson too in my post just in case you forgot. I'm not disputing the fact that Havertz has not really been impressive. My point is what exactly are the other bench players playing? The ESR you're referring to here is the one we all watched two seasons ago. Someone who benched Martinelli FFS. If his performance last weekend was impressive to you, then you're just being bias. Fact is none of them turned up...Nelson o, ESR, Havertz, Jorginho, Kiwior but na only Havertz we dey talk here. As for the bolded, the backlash has a lot to do with what the media is feeding us and his Chelsea reputation. That's not to say he is not without one or two stinkers since he arrived here though. |

On this Jorginho matter, I already expected all these. One reason why I was against his signing then was because he was never a DM. At Chelsea, he had Kanye mopping up his lapses but Arteta is trying to play him as a lone DM here. It is never going to work. |

mostob:Lol... I notice recently like jumping into different things Tbh. You talked about ESR and how he underwhelmed during the weekend save for his "six yard pass assist" as you put it, yet he's not receiving Backlash. That was exactly what I laughed at cos it's very funny and not true. Nothing concern me concern Nelson cos I didn't even watch ystdy match to have a strong opinion on anything. Heck ESR didn't even play ystdy My matter was that weekend match you felt Esr didn't do anything yet didn't receive backlash compared to Havertz. And yes, we'll always talk about Havertz because he's the one given unmerited favour esp as a starter. If Jorginho, Nelson, kiwi are mostly starters, we'll come for them too. It's a normal stuff. By the way, Kiwi and ESR played good game during the weekend |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 11:01am On Nov 02, 2023 |
mostob:One thing is that even that last season, Jorginho tried. Jorginho started against Chelsea, Man city (first leg), Aston Villa, Newcastle and they was very few or no complaints from guys here. I remember when Blueray (I think) said we need Jorginho this season for squad depth and that he couldn't imagine himself saying so before It's the reason why I said you were too harsh on Arteta when he started against Chelsea this season cos same Jorginho have started for us in big matches and they were few complaints those times. At least, let Havertz shine him own small. Jorginho came under same scrutiny as Havertz came |

The fact that this is our 2nd loss overall and first in our English domain is what should make you understand why we dey para. By January, we expect at least 5 exits. Will they be replaced or na excuse go follow them till we finish 3rd or whatever? Against a team like WestHam, you dey rely on Jorg? And we also should not forget how Moyes is one of the managers that tweak tactics in-game in EPL. Woh. If rubbish is getting favoured, then anyone can use barest minimum in an argument against it. Simple. |

iamoyindamola:We have 5 key spots to fill up. Do we have any potential prospects that we can anticipate arriving Emirates? White needs rest. Zinch needs Bench. Kiwi na sub at best. Partey et Jorg should be making way after this season. Saka and Nelli need actual competition, not sub competition. Xhaka refill needed too. And Kai should getat!! |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 3:22pm On Nov 02, 2023 |
Jodera:Fact is if I had not mentioned Havertz in my post, you wouldn't have disputed. I still put it to you that during the weekend, none of those players actually did something exceptional. Go and search the player ratings from different sites. Aside that 6 yard assist, ESR did nothing exceptional. We played against a poor Sheffield team so their lapses wouldn't show. You said Havertz was given an unmerited starting shirt, who do you think would have started in his place? We just pack Otus as backups but na Havertz we dey bash. Infact make Arsenal sell or loan Havertz by January. That's when most will realize the players we all vouch to start ahead of him are flops. I lost count of how many times Vieira should have cross or even shoot yesterday but he rather passed back. Nelson can't even get past his marker. |
