Kogi Guber: Police to deploy 40,000 personnel for Nov. 11 poll
The police command in Kogi says it plans to deploy over 40,000 policemen across the state to ensure the peaceful conduct of the November 11 governorship election.
The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Bethrand Onuoha, stated this in a telephone interview with journalists in Lokoja on Monday.
Mr Onuoha said that the planned deployment of a large number of personnel was due to past experiences in the state.
“As it is, we have marked out some security flash points for more vigilance, even though recent happenings have signalled to us that the whole Kogi is a flashpoint.
“From the number of security personnel we are deploying for this election, it’s enough testimony to tell you that the state needs more security checks.
“With the presence of adequate security personnel in Kogi, we are calling on everybody to come out and exercise his or her civic right in this forthcoming November 11 governorship election.
“We are going to flood the state with enough security personnel, and by the special grace of God, with our actions and sanctions, we are going to confound our detractors,” he said.
Mr Onuoha added, “God is telling me that this election is going to be better than all the elections ever held here in Kogi.
“We have directed our personnel to be fair to everybody because we come here to serve the people and not any particular individual.”
The CP urged politicians to play according to the rules of the game, saying that elections would come and go while the people would remain.
“We expect that they should adopt politics without bitterness. Your brother is your brother, no matter where he belongs politically,” he said.

Dino Melaye Vows To Lead Kogi State To Prosperity As PDP’s Final Rally Draws Thousands

Dino Melaye, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)*, addresses a massive crowd at the grand finale of his campaign rally in Lokoja, promising to work tirelessly for the people of Kogi State.

In a remarkable show of support, thousands of enthusiastic party supporters flooded the People’s Democratic Party state secretariat in Lokoja for the final rally of Senator Dino Melaye’s campaign ahead of the November 2023 governorship election in Kogi State. The streets, from Zone 8 to Ganaja flyover junction, were lined with yet more eager onlookers, creating an electric atmosphere.

Party chieftains and luminaries from the three Senatorial Districts of the state graced the occasion with their presence. Notable figures such as the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Adamawa state, Alhaji Boni Haruna, former Governor Ibrahim Wada, and Olushola Akanmode all showed their support for Melaye and his vision for Kogi State.

*Senator Dino Melaye*, who has already served two terms in the Senate, passionately declared his commitment to the well-being of the people of Kogi State should he be elected as Governor. In a rousing speech that resonated with the crowd, Melaye vowed to pursue, with utmost dedication, the goals outlined in his comprehensive Action Plan for the state.

Expressing his gratitude to the overwhelming number of attendees, Melaye asserted that the massive turnout was a reflection of the people’s love and support for him and his agenda. He also thanked every member of the party for placing their trust in him and promised not to disappoint.

Laying out his vision for the state, Melaye argued that Kogi should not be plagued by poverty, as it sits on a potential gold mine. Identifying poor governance and lackluster leadership as the root causes of the state’s current state, Melaye pledged to bring an end to these issues once elected as Governor. Atiku's last hope of relevance. Kogi deserves better than APC/PDP candidates. Unfortunately one of them will win and won't be positively different from the joker Yeye Bello

Without any bias, Dino is the most qualified and competent of the 3 leading candidates. It is laughable, pitiable and speaks of how there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Kogi state.
Since 1999 to date, it has been from one bad government to another, each trying to outdo its predecessor in wickedness and unlooking.
