Confirmation bias at play. Since it's Christopher Nolan they expect a great movie and see a great movie even if it's not. Any other director and it would have been forgotten by now.
Okay.

Oppenheimer 8/10

very long ass movie but captivating though.

I suppose Hydrogen bomb could literally destroy a country.

The ending dey somehow sha.

I just wish Nigeria would be organized enough to know how to make good use of all the human resources available in the country.

The Killer (2023 Netflix).... 6/10

Not gonna lie, the ending of this movie puzzled me.
I just couldn't get the rationale of the killer sparing the client. It made no sense at all to me considering his past actions.

I understand he's not as emotionless or brutal as he seems...but when you consider he had even killed the Taxi Driver, it makes no sense imo.

Yeah the client was an amateur who couldn't come after him, that's still no excuse cos he's a billionaire who's seen his face. Unless he just wanted to avoid the attention that comes with killing such a billionaire with the cops and all...and instead live a quiet life in retirement.

I hope someone can explain his rationale at the end

Is it not WB that serves as the distribution arm of all DC releases and doesn't James Gunn answers to WB as the parent company?

Nope. This is different.

DC Studios was born last year October and set up like Marvel Studios. It is unlike erstwhile DC Films where the CEO/Execs where vetoed and overruled by WB Execs in creative direction and other things.

Eg Disney Pictures can't tell Marvel Studios what to do with their IP unless a massive fvvk up happens that's where you see Bob Iger step in. Even at that the creative vision is still solely in the hands of Feige. That's why you see Kathleen Kennedy still keep her job and do the fvvk she wants despite fans outcry with how the Star Wars Franchise has turned out in recent years.
It's like WB Execs telling HBO what to do with their IP and projects.

In fact, the WB Pictures Execs preference was for Emma Mackey to portray Lois Lane, but Gunn stood adamant in his choice of Rachel Brosnahan.

WB Pictures is headed by the duo Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. They oversee New Line Cinema and WB Pictures exclusive films. They have a lesser oversight function on Warner Animation Group (WAG). DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran ONLY ANSWERS to David Zaslav. Same as Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy. They can't tell Gunn how to run his Studio just as Gunn can't vice versa. They can only suggest or take it up to Big Zas. Zaslav only interferes when there's a massive shitstorm to clean up. He's not a classic Hollywood executive, so I see less creative interference in the divisions.

Yes. New Line Cinema or WB Pictures are the distributors of DC Studios projects. Production now lies solely on DC Studios.

If all this sounds cumbersome, just think of it like Marvel Studios, Lucas Film. They control their own destiny and gives distribution rights to Disney.

This shouldn't really be news cos most DC fans already know about this along time ago. It's evident in the release slate that this is Gunn's vision. Cos there's no way in hell WB Pictures Group would allow majority of those film slate with those unknown characters shining. All the more especially how things turned out with Black Adam, Blue Beetle and Shazam 2.

I was surprised when he shot the Taxi driver. It made no sense to kill someone indirectly involved in your partner’s attack but sparing the person who was directly though inadvertently involved.

exactly. It bugged me too..

I don't know if I missed something but from what I could tell, the taxi driver knew nothing. All he had was just bad luck to be the one who took them on that ride. He was literally doing his job as a taxi driver but got killed.

Makes no sense to spare the person who paid for the hit

Perhaps he doesn’t want heat on himself, considering that the client is a high profile one and his face was on camera. He even said it that the police would take the murder more serious if the victim is rich.

The Killer

I get slow burn, I get calculated revenge but this wasn't it at all. It wasn't what I expected.

Only good thing about the movie was Tilda Swinton's story about the bear and the hunter.

5/10.

I checked online and there seems to be no satisfactory answer to this issue. So I changed my rating to 6/10 from 7/10

it wasn't the billionaire's idea to go after the killer, it was the killer's handler. The handler wanted to appease the client(billionaire) for the botched job. The billionaire had nothing against the killer.

Weekend Watch List

- Oppenheimer (2023)

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.

- The Garden of Sinners Chapter 2: A Study in Murder - Part 1 (2008)

A string of gruesome murders has happened in a quiet town. The killer is getting more accustomed to murder and there is no clue insight.

The Billionaire paid 50% for cleanup job so no blowback to him...

What exactly did he think that meant?

If the Billionaire was innocent, then what about the Taxi Driver?

as a first time client, the billionaire claims he didn't clearly know what the handler meant by tying loose ends. The taxi driver collect transfer of aggresion based on say na him drive the assassins.
