Then you clearly don't even grab the concept of backtesting.

Backtesting is to test the profitability of a strategy, the frequency of trade, period of trade, expected ROI, refining TP/SL, confidence of trade, experience of trade, shorten learning time on trade, expected and accepting trade loss.

Even after all of this
You would still trade like a c*nt.
it's on FT were you train discipline, you don't learn that in BT,
You also train patience on FT, and increase trade confidence.

I can simulate 3 years worth of data on BT in a week,
If you do that in FT, you won't even do 3 months on FT before throwing away the strategy.

Anyways, do what works best for you.

Regards.

Backtesting only shows if a strategy has potential for profitability or not.
Whether you as the trader can harness that profit will be determined when your emotion reacts with live market.

I am not saying backtesting is unimportant. I am saying the real work starts in forward testing, journaling and review.

But BT doesn't take into consideration the psychology, greed, and you can never be confident until you forward test. I just think when you enter the live market is a different ball game, you will forget all the BT.

There is no such thing as that. Each trade should be based on your rules.
Which should be a logical place/structure.
If your system gives you a trade with 5pips SL, don't change that to 20pips just because you feel it is tight. And vice versa.
Na true you talk brother.... but some one like me na coconut head I get wey no dey follow any rule.

But we have to help ourselves in following our rules or else emotion will destroy us in live market. cry

If you are marking up charts and not executing, you are moving backwards.
Wins and loses are randomly distributed, which means if the ones you don't execute ends up being your profitable setups, chances are the ones you execute will be the losing trades.

Taking only losing trades will affect your confidence, which means you will not take subsequent trade that will end up being a winner...it's an endless loop.

Instead, reduce your risk and execute all your A+ setups.
nice one. I sha took some other trades, I was supposed to add that particular one, completely forgot or will I say I was lackadaisical about it.

I am making progress cos I am learning a concept on my own,and I am becoming better at identifying the concept in its different forms.

Seeing the move before it happens even if I didn't trade it, is progress for.me. the trade I didn't take was also on competition demo if I had taken the trade wud hv boosted my ranking on the competition.

Bullish or bearish is relative on what TF you are looking at.
Meanwhile when someone takes an L in this business, just encourage them and move on (except where you are asked for input directly).

The business is already hard enough for you to make the person feel more like an idi0t.
We all take our L's from time to time. grin

Hope you don't take it personal. No pun intended.

You don't get me,The lot size these guys are allowed to use is over the lot size limit in the competition.Have you ever opened up to 70 lot in total before?, would you be allowed to use it?.
I once checked the trading history of a guy who made over 80% last month on TFT competition.Guess what,His biggest winner was not up to 9%,I calculated his profit and it's just 36%.mind you,all his trades at that time were closed.
I think these props are just playing around with us.

Oya na let's seek entry for this missed move,

161% might help to send trade back up

On second graph 261% might send trade back up

Or the third graph test line. We learn while on the trade

Funny enough, after backtesting for about two weeks I realized that your strategy only fully forms when forward testing. I've told my friends that you don't need to create a strategy before you start trading. Instead choose one out of the myriad of strategies out there, trade demo with it, notice it's limitations, tweak it (with respect to risk to reward ratio, frequency of trades, number of pairs, timeframe.e.t.c...) until it becomes what you want, repeat over and over again.

But then again😁 they haven't said it but I know they're waiting for me o become profitable first then I show them the way. 🀣 Honestly I can't blame them, but I've also told them that when I start making money from forex, I no go teach anything again.

It's only fairπŸ’―

@Nzechu, trade other instruments like stocks, crypto, synthetics.

Or try your system on a different fx pair and see your accuracy level.

When you see how random your system is, it will become easier for you to accept losses and play everything at once

You don't even need to, they can't catch up with you.
Even if you teach them, they will still need to go through the go-through by themselves.

And I'm nowhere near where I want to be so it should tell them how hard it's going to be. One is putting full effort and he's quite close to me in ability, another one's effort is half hearted. The rest...😁 No worry, my next year motivation go loud.

Imagine passing infofirst's challenge and getting live funded with FTMO. Make 5% of a 10k account. That's roughly 500k for a student like me who's been surviving on about 30k monthly.

Koz,
why do you use the rsi on your chart?

I actually don't 🀣

It's one of the remnants of when I used to combine price action and indicators to trade. I removed it once but I couldn't tolerate how my chart became so large. I jejely put am back because I wasn't used to seeing the chary like that.

It's basically the same reason why I do my analysis on MT4. I'm not comfortable using MT5.

The bolded is my main motivation. I was at 6% two weeks ago and then I started taking the wrong trades. I may have 4 setups on my other account, but the one I decide to place on the darwinex account is the one that would hit SL🀣

I no fit vex. I know I'd pass it sha... I've come to far to allow it shake me to my core. I'd just adapt. One thing many people dont talk about because it's frowned upon is "gut feeling."

But technically it's not gut feeling because it's accumulated from patterns you've seen form over years of looking at the chart. Your confluences may be screaming at you to enter a trade, but your instinct just say to hold on an you wonder why. You just need to be careful so you realize when it's fear of losing that's keeping you out of the market.

Muscle memory. This is the ultimate bus stop; where you intuitively trade.
This is why profitable trading can't be taught. It is built overtime.

The key components to profitable trading is rarely talked about on social media.
