Ellexy:In all honesty, what sort or form of accountability do you expect from Tinubu? The man came in and ran the most expensive cost of governance we have had since 1999, but Nigeria is broke Subsidy was draining our resources, but we have borrowed $1.2 billion in less than 6 months to share as palliatives..and budgeted 1.5 billion naira for his Wife's office I do not blame him for waiting for Obi to talk...What exactly do you want to hear again from Tinubu? |

What Nigeria needs is not more universities, it's aggressive industrialisation. In fact, let's even begin with the easiest—agricultural industrialization, which can turn Nigeria into a developed country within 25 years! Netherlands of 17m people makes about $79B yearly via agricultural export, that's aside the massive blue-collar millions of jobs provided to the citizens while Nigeria with so-called black gold makes meager $39B - approximately half of it. Do you think if Nigeria has a very organised national mechanised agriculture tens of millions of currently unemployed Nigerian graduates won't be working in those farms as agronomists, electrical and mechanical engineers, accountants, geneticists, animal nutritionists, IT experts, veterinarians, hydrologist, farm nurses and doctors, marine scientists, unlike the current system where the agricultural sector is handled by 90% old men and women using hoes and cutlass and who are majorly illiterates etc??Copied this comment from a thread about Wigwe intending to spend $500 million to set up a university in Nigeria. What do you guys think? |

TrebleChamp:Its possible that in winter, some days can be warm and coincidentally be when you are in town Its like you travel to Kaduna and it rains you sef can claim it When your job involves public speaking regularly and "creating fresh content" you will be prone to exaggeration, embellishment and outright falsehood Now when you have to sell hope of having supernatural powers then that will take you to the realm of claiming you drove a car without fuel or entered a bathroom in Germany and landed in France |

izzou:Lol he should leave Obi alone and focus on the technocrat he campaigned for who said FX is not an issue cos we don't earn in dollars. All the things Obi said before, during and after the elections are enough for him if he truly wants to listen. |

PDPGuy:Aggressive mechanized agriculture, when I went to Nigeria that was what I told someone that all these land we are using for churches everywhere (cos we were driving on Lagos Ibadan expressway) If say Redeemed church can get hectares of land in Oyo State, the church has a gathering of active and retired Agricultural and mechanical engineering professors who can put into action all those theories they taught us They will employ/mop up several unemployed youths from their congregation and the society, even if the produce is to feed the church members alone. Lets have RCCG rice, Christ embassy tomatoes, MFM beans, Winners Garri, NASFAT Yams etc Instead of creating churches in every house. My street in Lagos maximum is 300meters long and we have like 10 churches remixing the same messages everyone has been preaching since blasting loudspeakers at every hour of the day. Doing deliverance on a child who collapsed from malnutrition Imagine Hausa people will say they will stop sending tomatoes, pepper beans, beef and we start panicking in the South. Anything we cannot grow locally or source from friendly places maybe we shouldnt develop a huge appetite for it |

PDPGuy:I think Agric in Nigeria has a lot of hurdles that we don't know yet. Everybody knows farming is gold, but how come very few are interested in it? Someone is willing to spend 1 billion naira in building 4 petrol stations, but cannot channel half of that into Agriculture? Even the Access bank CEO no see agric as something viable sef. I think there's some hurdle that Nigerian Agric space has |

PDPGuy:It is a great post and I agree with his thoughts about agricultural industrialization. However, agricultural industrialization is virtually impossible at this time in Nigeria because of the spate of insecurity buttressed by activities of Fulani herdsmen, bandits, kidnapping, UGM and others. Our farmers are unable to return to their farmlands or safely till the soil without running into these guys. We have a lot of arable land scattered across the country but we can’t secure them. Also, our borders are extremely porous. Benue State is the food basket of the nation but that state continue to suffer mass killings and nothing has been done to address it. The North produces a lot of our cash/ food crops but that has become difficult because you now have bandits imposing tax/ levies on these communities. There is massive food insecurity in the country that needs to be addressed. I just read on front page that Nigeria is now officially back to the importation of rice and by 2024, we will be ranked number 1 importer of rice. This situation is attributed to a decline in rice production which is invariably related to our inability to keep our farmlands safe. We need to desperately address the insecurity before even discussing mechanized farming or loans/ financial support from banks. Banks and financial institutions in Nigeria are going to be hesitant in engaging anyone with industrial farming plans because of the risk involved. Our insecurity is a big reason why investors are staying away from agriculture, they would rather invest in building tertiary institutions. |

PDPGuy:the banks have transitioned to holdings companies. they are sitting on a TON of money. each oga at the top will decide on what he wants to do. WIGEW has decided on a university Schools are making very good money in nigeria - and people may decide it is cheaper for your ward to school in nigeria rather than abroad. especially our wealthy nigerians whose pikins do not have do you know who I am protections Wigwe has decided where he wants to invest. it also comes with its own risks |

PDPGuy:Why Nigeria is not an agricultural hub I will never understand. If I be God make i bend if i answer Nigerians prayer. All that soil and climate I blessed you with and you're still disturbing me every Friday and Sunday The way forward for Nigeria is blue collar industries and how to standardize them. Not necessarily more universities that some have said produce unemployable graduates. |

Roland17:You and Gloriousgbola spoke my mind on this matter . The major factor is the insecurity issue which the government seem not to be able to sort like u rightly pointed out. I remember Olu Falae'a farm was razed by marauding Fulani herdsmen under Buhari . Instead of FG finding solution to the insecurity issue particularly the herdsmen wahala they were busy forcing print media from simply saying " suspected killer herdsmen " instead of calling a spade a spade. I also watched videos of farmers in Oke Ogun( Oyo State ) , Benue State and other parts of the country country lamenting the state of insecurity and the havoc these guys wreaked on their respective farms. Gloriousgbola was also spot on addressing the person asking why Wigwe is investing in schools and not in agriculture . It's simply because it's his money and he gets to decide on how to spend it. He most likely feel his money will be secured in the education sector why private individuals have thrived without much support from government . Unlike the agricultural sector where the government does little or nothing to address the major challenges that can threaten ur future earning ability . Personally I think the government will not pay much attention to agriculture and another sector if there's no possibility that our oil might dey up in the nearest future . Most of Nigeria's financial problem started with the oil boom . See world Bank article below attesting to that fact https://documents1.worldbank.org/curated/en/198091468775789095/pdf/multi-page.pdf |

raumdeuter:I don't know why poor people go to church, is it to thank God for their poverty? Church should be a luxury for the rich who have all the reason to thank God. If Oyedepo can invest in an expensive university that 80% of his members can't afford, instead of something that will be beneficial for them, then those poor members don't have sense at all. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 6:28am On Nov 16, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:500 million dollars is more than enough funds to invest in industrialised farming that will be highly secured. Like say you no sabi wetin that kind funds fit do. Coconut is an agricultural produce that has no waste product, it's demand consistent and is also less susceptible to attacks. A large investment in coconut for example will push the price down as well as the price of its bye products. Actually, $500 million investment in any agricultural produce can force its market price down and securing such an investment with such heavy funds won't be any issue. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 7:16am On Nov 16, 2023 |
swiz123:Why will I as an investor pool together $500 million and then put it into an agricultural sector where the government cannot guarantee security ? What is the motivation ? If u are saying the investor will use part of the insecurity issue bedevilling the sector, then u don't know how serious and complicated Nigeria's security challenges are . Let's say the investor wants to invest $50 million of the $500 million into security .... The money will most likely be diverted or looted at the ministry of defence level , defence headquarters level , and even JTF commander level .... The ugly cancer called corruption will rear it's head . Wigwe knows all of these and most likely felt the risk was not worth it |
