[font=serif]"Under Obasanjo, DSS dragged me on airport tarmac...."-Adams Oshiomole

”I had a similar experience… I was on my way to Delta State and I went to the airport,” he said.

“The then director of SSS ordered that I should be arrested and stopped from travelling because we had given an ultimatum to the then Federal Government headed by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

"They dragged me on the tarmac and I had my cuts all over the place. They forcefully prevented me from flying and took me back to the DSS director general’s office — then Col. [Kayode] Are,” the former labour leader stated.

“He offered to take me to their own hospital and I said, ‘No, I can’t even trust a government that has inflicted this kind of wound on me to treat me. They might as well poison my blood.’ I said I wasn’t going to do that.

"[For] at least 48 hours, the NLC couldn’t locate me. When eventually I was let out, the bandage on my arm with the blood and all that, I told my colleagues, ‘This blood would rather reinforce and whet my appetite for the struggle for justice,’” he said.

Hehe. How will they keep selling people dreams if people are engaged and start seeing their fate is mostly in their hands
swiz123:
I don't know why poor people go to church, is it to thank God for their poverty? Church should be a luxury for the rich who have all the reason to thank God.

If Oyedepo can invest in an expensive university that 80% of his members can't afford, instead of something that will be beneficial for them, then those poor members don't have sense at all.
At 11am on midweek all the churches were like 50% full. mid day and these people are going to bind poverty when they should be working

When people are hopeless they go to church, betting companies and alcohol. Na why those industries dey sell

The guy I was discussing with said Naija youths are only interested in fast money and will not take the job that only Benin and Togolese guys will take those jobs while this might be true to some extent but there are some Naija guys too that will take these farm jobs even if its just 20% of unemployed youths who wuld otherwise become armed robbers and contribute to insecurity

Roland17:
It is a great post and I agree with his thoughts about agricultural industrialization. However, agricultural industrialization is virtually impossible at this time in Nigeria because of the spate of insecurity buttressed by activities of Fulani herdsmen, bandits, kidnapping, UGM and others. Our farmers are unable to return to their farmlands or safely till the soil without running into these guys. We have a lot of arable land scattered across the country but we can’t secure them. Also, our borders are extremely porous.

Benue State is the food basket of the nation but that state continue to suffer mass killings and nothing has been done to address it. The North produces a lot of our cash/ food crops but that has become difficult because you now have bandits imposing tax/ levies on these communities. There is massive food insecurity in the country that needs to be addressed. I just read on front page that Nigeria is now officially back to the importation of rice and by 2024, we will be ranked number 1 importer of rice. This situation is attributed to a decline in rice production which is invariably related to our inability to keep our farmlands safe.

We need to desperately address the insecurity before even discussing mechanized farming or loans/ financial support from banks. Banks and financial institutions in Nigeria are going to be hesitant in engaging anyone with industrial farming plans because of the risk involved. Our insecurity is a big reason why investors are staying away from agriculture, they would rather invest in building tertiary institutions.
This is more of a chicken and egg situation

Which leads to what? Is it insecurity that leads to unemployment or is it unemployment that leads to insecurity. Both can be argued

Also when large organizations with more resources come into an industry they will have more logistics to fix an issue that small scale farmers cannot including security. All these churches have a way of getting Nigerian police to help them with security when its time for their camp

Most times when its time for monthly Holy ghost, there are more policemen on the roads and the kidnapping activities reduce. I know the police aren't doing it for free, its likely that the religious organizations used their influence(or money) to get more police presence. When they have these farms, they will be able to speak to the state govt or FG to deploy a permanent police post to those places
A church as big as those names should have no problem building and donating 10 standard police posts in the areas they are operating and providing them with Hilux and bikes

Wigwe for example going to locate his school in that area definitely has plans to provide security not only from private security but from NPF as well
Wigwe is a private businessman, I wont focus on him as much cos his goal should be profit making and will prioritize that but the religious organizations that make money through congregation have a social responsibility to them

The proceeds from those farms even if its to sell to their congregation at reduced prices will go a long way in giving back small something back to the same people who helped you build this magnificent enterprise

Following the declaration of Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo as the winner of the Saturday November 11th governorship election in Kogi state, the deputy governorship candidate of the African Action Alliance, AAC, Engr Oladeji Bamidele has disassociated himself from plans by the leadership of his party to approach the law court, seeking the cancelation of the results of the election.
Engr. Oladeji while addressing a Press conference on Thursday in Lokoja said he is ready to work with the winner of the Governor-Elect, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo and key into his blueprint for a prosperous Kogi state

Its possible that in winter, some days can be warm and coincidentally be when you are in town

Its like you travel to Kaduna and it rains you sef can claim it

When your job involves public speaking regularly and "creating fresh content" you will be prone to exaggeration, embellishment and outright falsehood

Now when you have to sell hope of having supernatural powers then that will take you to the realm of claiming you drove a car without fuel or entered a bathroom in Germany and landed in France
Nigerians worship their religious leader and not God, they always believe whatever lies or obey whatever instruction their religious leaders tell them.
