Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro has applied for the vacant coaching job of Egyptian club, Zamalek SC.

According to Egyptian website, Kooora, Peseiro is among the coaches who have submitted their CV’s for the top job.

Zamalek are in the market for a new coach after recently sacking Colombian, Juan Carlos Osorio for poor results.

“Jose Peseiro is among the names already nominated to lead Zamalek,” a reliable club source told Kooora.

“But he does not enjoy any preference. He is just one name among many CVs on the board of directors’ table.”

Peseiro’s decision to apply for the White Castle’s coaching job may not go down well with his current employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The 63-year-old penned a new short-term contract with the NFF in the summer.

The Portuguese is currently under-fire following the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s poor start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Eagles are without a win after two games following their 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Nigerians should not expect any meaningful result from this man.
He won only 48.68% of all matches played as the head coach during his career.

Nigeria was once rated as the 5th best footballing nation in the world.

A country that plans would have moved on to even be the best or at least remain around that bracket. But as at today the coach of the team is worse than a Dundee United coach.

Honestly speaking even the NFF that employed him Amaju and Galadima know he is not up to scratch

Jose Peseiro’s has been with the team for some time and up til now, we don’t know his philosophy. We don’t know the pattern and playing style of the Eagles.

Worse of all he has not been able to win any top team. Even the smaller teams we struggle to even play drew with them

With the way we are going it's straight back to back apsence from the world cup.

If out of possible 6 points we are getting just 2 points. Are we serious with our selves.

No sentiment should be made Jose Peseiro’ should be sacked now. Let's get a serious coach. After all the man has already planned to leave for Zamalek

Are the players too dumb not to know what is supposed to be done? Peserio is a foreigner; he will one day go. They should be passionate and intentional about playing for Nigeria.
