I Got A Job In UK, Now This! by Cuteandkind: 10:23am On Nov 20, 2023 |
Greetings My Good People of Nairaland. Please I need suggestions on an offer I have. I am a Registered Nurse, hoping to relocate to UK. I have passed through all the steps and currently preparing to write my OSCE in the UK. I had to sponsor myself to UK for my OSCE exams. So recently I got job offers from 2 NHS Trusts in UK after passing their job interviews. They are willing to give me COS for my Skilled Worker Visa Processing, but none is willing to make any financial commitment for my relocation. THEY MADE IT CLEAR THEY DO NOT OFFER ANY RELOCATION PACKAGE. This means I have to; Pay the Skilled Worker Visa Fees myself Pay NHS Surcharge myself Pay for flight Pay for my TB tests myself And even cater for my accomodation on arrival. The cost runs into millions of naira, which I do not have. My questions; 1. Does anyone thing the offer is worth it, and should I accept it considering how difficult it is getting NHS offers now? 2. If I decide to go through Health and Care Worker Visa Route, the visa processing fees will be cheaper than Skilled Worker, but is it advisable? 3. Is it advisable to take a loan and invest in the relocation plans, since I have an offer already? Every suggested will be appreciated. ednut1 justwise DisGuy Lalasticlala |

Cuteandkind:The offer doesn’t worth it. Try to look into the package they want to offer. If it is the same regular payment package, I won’t take it. if you could not sponsor my CoS, ticket and first 3months accommodation + OSCE and still want to be paying the regular 30k per annum, the deal is a bull shit then. The money would appear so big to you when you are still in Nigeria receiving naira and spending naira. When you start collecting the annual £30k and spending in £, you will understand that that is not a big money coupled with the fact that you have to pay neck the loans. But if you are desperate to leave Nigeria, you could get the loan. 11 Likes |

@Amotolongbo Thank you so much for your suggestion. It is the same regular Band 5 payment, nothing more. Do you think there are other Trusts that will still be willing to offer a relocation package with all the red list wahala? |

Cuteandkind:I don’t know about the situation of things now, When I came two years ago, it included all the sponsorship (CoS, visa, flight, Surcharge + my family) and refunds for the CBT and IELT, the first 3months accommodation included 2 Likes |

On band 5 after deductuons your salary would be £1,700-£1,800 monthly, this is for 37.5hrs a week, you have the right to do extra 22.hrs a week, if you are lucky you could get £25-£30/hr jobs in private practices, this could amount to extra £1600 a month after deductions. My wife made the move earlier this year and its the best decision we ever made, we are settled and happy. 33 Likes 1 Share |

Amotolongbo: Okay, a lot have really changed now. Getting offers are tougher and the immigration process is stricter. I made over 200 applications on Trac, and no singular interview invite. I used my life savings to come to UK on a visit visa to write my OSCE. Just few applications here, I have gotten 2 offers. So I am considering holding on to them, jealously 8 Likes |

You are not going to get any solution here my sister. The ball is in your court. Arrange with your family and enter the UK, things are not as they were few months ago. Ihs surcharge will still be refunded. Enter obodo first, start humbly like most of us, your future and that of your nuclear family is bigger in the UK as a registered nurse. 12 Likes |

If you have an offer as a Registered Nurse, your Visa category automatically is the Health Care Visa which exempts you from paying immigration Health surcharge (IHS). Also your visa fee would be cheaper than the Skilled Worker Visa. Secondly, most NHS Trusts do not offer relocation packages. If you could afford to self sponsor yourself for the OSCE, I do not understand how you have a problem with this offer. It only suggests to me, that you opened this thread for clout chasing. 6 Likes 1 Share |

GreatChizzy: Clout chasing? Not at all. I made over 200 applications on Trac, and no interview invite. I used my life savings, from working in the private sector, to process visit visa to UK, to write my OSCE and improve my chances of getting an offer. I have been managing with friends, hoping that an offer will come with relocation package and every other cost covered. Now the offer is here, and it is in a different city where I know nobody, like 4 hours from where I have friends. It comes with no relocation package. I am lost on how to raise money to relocate fully, or just leave it, get my pin, and hope for better offers. Do bear in mind that I will be returning to Nigeria soon after my exams. So I have genuine concerns if I will be able to get another offer from Nigeria or kukuma hold unto what I have. It is not clout chasing Sir 13 Likes |

Cuteandkind: I do apologise for wrongly accusing you. What Cities did you get offers from? It could be in the city of my residence or close by. My wife and I would be happy to provide you accommodation should you consider the offers. Send me an email so we can discuss further details. 11 Likes |

Things have changed, you might see some trust still offering but most of them are in deficit so all the perks dried up. Once you move that's if you do, you will come across better offers even within your trust once you're settled in. Once you're in the NHS and with the right attitude ( work and social) the possibilities are endless!! Good luck with whatever decision you take 1 Like |

Cuteandkind:can I speak with you on the phone if you don't mind? UK doesn't pay for flight or visa. What happens is that when you get a new job you get a relocation allowance between £4000 to £6000. They also pay you salary for the 3 months they pay you normal salary while you are in a an accomodation they paid for you to stay in for three months to do OSCE. They pay for your OSCE exams. Nigerians actually lie to you when they say NHS paid for their visa and flight. It is the relocation allowance that is given to you when you get there, that Nigerians think it's for flight. No no no. Even if you are inside UK or in America, you are still entitled to relocation allowance if the job advert states so. First, look for the original job advert. Relocation allowance is likely to be stated there since it is NHS. You only get it when you arrive there, not before. The money is between £4000 to £6000 most times. That should be enough to settle any money you borrow. Your family members have to support you now by borrowing to contribute, you are sure going to be able to pay back in time. Anybody who doesn't support you now should not expect support from you. 4 Likes |
