Last week the state Internal Generated Revenue agency came to my office to request d data of all my employee.
I asked what for and I was told its for renumeration.
So I think it's about taxation.
As long as I'm concerned I do not have issues with taxation but I have issues with how d money is to be spent.

Hamachi:
[11/23, 10:31 PM] Good evening ma

An employer sent the above message to his employees, please advise if you received same message from your employers

Povided the following details:

1. Personal Email ID
2. NIN
3. Mobile 1
4. Mobile 2 (if you have one)

There is a new mandate for payroll processing by Ministry of Interior which requires these details. Failure to provide this information will result in unpaid salaries whilst the company will be fined. Please note that NIN is issued by FGN for the purpose of identification. It is not confidential or a proprietary that that belongs to "YOU" the individual. Providing this to your employer as required is mandatory, you may verify the circular (from Ministry of Interior) with Faith for your comfort.

*Please comply immediately and avoid the embarrassment to yourselves.*
Fake. I work for the government and at no time have I been asked by the office to provide my NIN or BVN. Don't be fooled into giving your details to scammers.

There is nothing illegal there except your personal email. Your personal email is nobody’s business. It’s personal. If they insist, though illegal, create one on gmail u don’t use and give them.

Generally speaking it’s always advisable to have multiple personal emails. One you use normally and one or others you give to people or organizations you don’t trust.

I'm not sure of the message is from Federal Government, but it is normal that your workplace should have your NIN, for identification purposes. If I'm to take a wild guess, they probably want to create tax IDs for them.

Our concern is just that we do not really do much by the way of data security.
They don’t need your NIN to create Tax ID, there’s what we called TIN Tax Payers identification cards I have it back then when I was working In Nigeria, this information is out of context, NIN is a person stuff that ought to be protected otherwise it can land you in serious trouble imagine someone using your NIN to register a phone number for kidnapping. Nigeria don’t have Data security so everyone needs to be careful

This is the right way for the country to have database of working class in Nigeria.
It's just like UK, you can never get a job or run any business without your Ni.
That way government will be able to get tax and also plan for people without job.

Oh.. The NIN was requested to create a Tax ID for new employees in one of the organizations I work with, that's why I remember.

One must be careful though. The way Nigeria as a people are very careless with data privacy is very disturbing.

60k per month means 720k per year. That means you will pay 72k per month. Here's the breakdown of the bands.

On the first 300k, you will pay 7% tax which is 21k.
On the next 300k, you will pay 11% tax which is 33k.
That remains 120k and you will pay 15% tax which is 18k.
The total is 72k.

Nigeria family database is poor for now so little hope for removing taxes on some expenses like child education, dependents expenses and so on.

TIN is from FIRS while what states issue is Tax Payer ID.

Pay As You Earn/Personal Income Tax goes to states for almost 99% of workers.

In Lagos state, you need either BVN or NIN to generate Tax payer ID for an individual.

Putting this here for possible corrections from people with better insight.
But 72k per year is akin to the tithe of 720k and that's 10%
