It's heating up.....

This year might just be the most varied set of winners if Oppenheimer don't dominate. 👀

And I am not the one to judge movies or actors based on the awards they've won, take Leo DiCaprio for instance man finally won his Oscar after years of worthy performances that went unacknowledged. Awards are mostly won on sentiments and heavy PR

My God, how is this budget super tiny?? This is a budget for a horror film in Hollywood. 😳😭

With the quality of the VFX, I expected around $50mn. Well, Japanese VFX artist hardly get paid decent wages in comparison to Hollywood, so.....

IT NEVER STOPS!!! 🙅🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

All these are just mere "cheap" talk. If audiences were concerned about quality, Killers of The Flower Moon would be grossing way better.
I feel these filmmakers main gripe is franchise films, but with CBM being in the rut and endless criticism from fans it's a easier target for these old time filmmakers to talk shït about and use as Scape goat.

Look at the most recent Scorsese movie, felt like barely anyone saw it and that had the might of Apple marketing pushing it with a hefty budget.

Also, it's funny how they keep asking these 60+ year olds what they think of CBMs. It's an age group thing. Anything for the clicks & rage baits I guess.
"No one would ask me what I think of rom coms...genres which I mostly hate & grew up in a decade where Jennifer Anniston, Julia roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Jlo shot to fame because of them."
I wouldn't be willing to go to a theatre to spend money to watch these movies but I streamed "No Hard Feelings" and "She Came To Me".
Gen Zs and Millennials don't give a fvvk about Westerns. That's why they died.

They all talk as if CBMs are all what studios produce. Just 8 superhero films a year against hundreds of other genres and this people cry as if that's the ONLY choice they got in 12 MONTHS!!
These filmmakers should wake the fvvk up and understand that the general audience are who determines what Hollywood produces. People vote with their money. So enough of these sob stories. It's like they're stylishly telling ppl we watch shït movies and just using "Superhero films" as a front.
cos I'm having a hard time understanding how they think studios would keep releasing these movies without the audience buying into them.

And when award seasons come around, how often do superhero movies win anything, let alone get nominations? Far less frequently than any other genre.
Sure, Marvel and D.C. movies make lots of money, but it still feels like superhero films are the black sheep of the industry. These ppl are just one annoying and snobbish set of people and they don't want to tell themselves the truth and are just PAINED.

And not enough blame is put on Oscar bait season where every studio dumps good movies instead of giving them good dates to grow and build momentum.
There's enough space for other movies and OPPENHEIMER proves it. It hit almost a billion alongside BARBIE. Superhero blame is a cop out.

While I'm currently experiencing serious Superhero Fatigue, I don't support this hate towards Superhero movies tbh...

These oldies just have this enclosed mentality...
They look at Superhero movies as kids stuff just because the source materials are comic books...

These are the same people who would call all animation kids stuff...

It's not like the other movies Hollywood has been churning out are any better btw...

Most are just "pretentiously deep" stuff...
Some are the same overdone wack action movies with recycled and tired plots like Expendables 4...

I honestly wonder how some people cope relying solely on Hollywood for media entertainment...

7/10.

Oppenheimer begins with an explosive big bang, immediately puzzling the audience as they wonder whether this will be another sci-fi epic or historical drama. "What cat hides in the bag?" You likely hoped for a CIA-level exposé into Oppenheimer's life, but the plot does not sprint like a 100m race. Instead, it twists and turns, almost drawing you into its web, the complex world where Oppenheimer once lived.

The themes featured in this movie include science, romance, thrill, betrayal, loyalty, politics, and even scandal. The intricate narrative nearly fools you into thinking this film aims to dethrone titans like The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, or The Prestige. Though it utilizes shifting timelines and a documentary-style voiceover, the deception unravels once you pass the first 2 hours. By the third hour, "what did I just watch?" I muttered to the ceiling. Apparently, it was about how Oppenheimer almost lost his reputation rather than chronicling the creation of the bomb itself or the mechanics giving rise to such awesomely destructive power.

Of course, the movie is titled "Oppenheimer" rather than "Atomic Bomb." However, other subplots and settings revolve around the atomic bomb. At first, we were misled into expecting Oppenheimer's thoughts to unfold through graphic illustrations. But that was not the case. As the characters debated complex scientific ideas, wrestling over the best way to construct the explosive device, there was little insight into Oppenheimer's mind apart from Christmas firecrackers popping in the sky. I wondered, what purpose did the graphic illustrations serve? Weren't they meant to demonstrate how Oppenheimer conceived his explosive brainchild? If so, the cinematography failed woefully to portray that vision. And what was the significance of the glass shattering? These artistic builds, only to culminate in a 20 by 20 room with characters from another show - Scandal.

Cramming so many storylines into such a short runtime maimed the film’s true power. This may have fared better as a franchise, attempting to “John Wick” us but flailing in the effort. I learned precious little about science; I’m starting to think the movie’s title should have been "Oppenheimer: A Tale for Gen Z."

The only reason I’m not rating this a 5/10 is the scene where Oppenheimer gets asked about his affair with his late Drug-addicted girlfriend. She appears in the room naked, riding him, while his horrified wife watches. The interplay between Oppenheimer’s perception and his wife’s captures a creative cinematography rarely achieved since Avengers: Endgame. Nonetheless, the average viewer will find enjoyment here.

Well, Godzilla or Monsterverse fans are eating good this period. This just got out on theatres and there's an Apple TV plus show, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. And then there's a Godzilla x Kong: New Empire film in April next year.

The Doom Generation (1995)....1/10

One of the most pointless movies I've seen this year.
The only reason I completed this movie was because the female MC was sèxy af...

This movie is so occultic, demonic and pointless...

How TF was this movie tagged as Comedy/Thriller?

There is nothing funny about it...the dialogue is made purposely to be as terrible and cringe as possible...

And you can't convince me the director of this movie isn't in some demonic cult...
Because I don't see who else this movie was made for

I feel they're literally just PAINED their style and taste of movies ain't CINEMA to present age moviegoers who dictate what the industry produces. They're just PAINED no one is going out enmasse to see their silly romcoms or drama flicks.

What's funny, it's not as if their type of movies ain't getting made. It's just that they ain't mainstream to most people.
That's why I feel they're mainly pained by CBM audience spending money to watch it and not their God tier storytelling.
I think their gripe is mainly franchise films like The Hunger Games, Godzilla Vs Kong, Star Wars, The Conjuring and Horror franchises, but they can't voice their opinions else they loose the support of everybody, that's why the sole focus is on CBMs since they make the most money and have the most fans.
Imagine make this Jodie Foster come out and bad mouth Halloween or Jurassic Park franchise. E don be for am, cos then the true intentions will be way more clearer. So CBM it is!!

It's SHOW BUSINESS not SHOW ART.

They should be crying to studios why franchise films and sequels are what is the order of the day. The thing is, hardly anyone takes risks these days especially in the socioeconomic circumstances we presently in. Tried and trusted tactics will continue that's why you'll still see these type of films dominate the film slate.
Ppl will hype and shout Killers of The Flower Moon and Napoleon supremacy online, but wait for them at theatres. Dem no go turn up!!
That's why her ilk are jealous.

This guy puts it succinctly...

Wetin be my business with these people when you mention?
Why would I want to please them?
Does it add money to my account?

I've made it clear before that Superhero Fatigue exists and I am seriously experiencing same...and I've been experiencing it for quite a while...

Just because I'm not a big Superhero fan does not mean I will support these Hollywood oldies who somehow think Superhero movies are entirely to blame for all their problems in Hollywood...

Every year Hollywood dey drop steady tràsh... Superhero movies or not...

I have avoided a number of Superhero movies this year...yet I've still seen several trash from Hollywood...in fact I mostly watch anime these days since Hollywood rarely produces anything worthwhile anymore....

See how they even used wokèness to destroy franchises...
Are Superhero movies to blame for that too?

And just so you know...there is a difference between Superhero movies/series and Comic book movies/series...

You can have movies based off comic books that aren't Superhero based...and I'm all for that as long as they are good...

Even the Superhero based ones, if it feels fresh rather than the same repititive cràp I'm all for it.

I'm a big fan of Invincible and The Boys which are both Superhero shows...

Better animation from Studio WIT. Way better than we shite we've had to endure with the animations for the past three years.
I can see the allure with the Korean Huntress DCU project in the works. Easy way to get more fans from our usual primary markets.
