The Director-General, World Trade Orgainzation, Ngozi Okonji-Iweala, and media mogul, Mo Abudu, have made the Forbes’ list of 100 world’s most powerful women.

Okonjo-Iweala’s inclusion is proof of the great influence of her leadership and the important role she plays in reshaping the global scene.

The Forbes list of the world’s most powerful women for 2023 was released on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

The list includes 100 women who have performed excellently well in various fields, such as business, media, politics, entertainment, and technology.

The list was compiled using four major parameters: spheres of influence, money, media, and impact.

Okonjo-Iweala, who has worked for the World Bank, Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance, and the World Trade Organisation, has been vocal about how economies can become more inclusive when women’s unique experiences are considered in economic planning.

The magazine hails Abudu as a “media mogul and philanthropist.” With a slate of films that include Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman, and The Wedding Party, she has changed the game in Nollywood as the founder of Ebony Life Media.

Currently, Abudu and Okonjo-Iweala are producing the documentary series Black, Brilliant and Bold for Netflix.

Music star, Taylor Swift also made the list, coming in fifth place and being the first woman on the list outside of politics and governance.

“With a record-breaking world tour, the ability to move economies, and a US$1.1 billion (RM5.1 billion) net worth, the 33-year-old entertainer ranks among the most influential women on the planet,” Forbes wrote of the pop star.

Singers, Beyonce and Rihanna also made the list.

Forbes sitting in one AC-room in US and choosing the most powerful woman in Africa? Smh.

Those people in the west, US and their follow-follow nations, really live in a different world and planet.

They chose the DG of WTO for their own Africa when in the real Africa , most people don't even know WTO let alone Dr. Okonjo-Iweala .

In same Africa where there are Female Presidents, Billionaires, Musicians, Actors, Sports personalities, Top Execs, Politicians, Royalties etc. They should be in Africa to know who is truly a powerful woman. Haba!!

They are really joking and only stopped short of giving it to HE Peter Obi who is the 2023 Africa's most profilic in giving inaccurate data and outright falsehoods. Check my signature for free stuffs!

I don't know why they see everything as competition with Igbos. A woman that is not even qualified to carry NOI files is who they compared with her

That would be a huge pity, as I think my waiting would be me watching Nigeria get worse and Nigerians suffering more while I grow old.

Hopefully, $1=10000naira would also be something I grow old waiting and even die before it happens.
