January isn't long, what makes it look long to salary earners is that all employers pay their staffs between 18th or latest 21st of December.

Most of the time, these employees already have a mapped out budget on how they're going to spend their Christmas holidays. Traveling, partying, clubbing, getting the kids new clothes, more and more expenses..etc.

So by 31st of the same December, they're already broke. And January salary wouldn't come until the end of January, so they have to endure weeks and weeks of bankruptcy making January look like the longest month on the calendar.

The solution to this is to have an alternative source(s) of income.

You are right. However, one just have to spend wisely. The cost of living now isn't funny. With the rate the price of things are soaring high especially food, should make one think twice.

Change the topic of this your thread to something more presentable and I see it hitting the front page.

This I have seen.

Why does January appear to be so long?

It's not abt the topic, it's abt who posted it or created the thread. There are people here who would post this and it would get to Front Page. For example, the Romance Section is a feminist section. Thread against ladies doesn't or hardly get to FP but thread against guys, their dirty boxers, behaviours gets to FP.

Well said @Nazgul but majority of salary earners are yet to have any alternative source of income despite many trials and attempts.
I believe a more realistic solution is to plan well in advance for December and January, by way of target accounts, no matter how small to cushion the January drought. cool

Sometimes, the nature of their job may not give them the chance. Only very few people do. I know a lady who sells petty things like biscuits in her place of work. What if the management do not permit you, what would you do? It is what she use to manage herself before her salary comes. I have seen some soldiers to drive bike to manage themselves too.
