The game against villa on Saturday is the real deal with what happened to city |

How To Beat Villa 1. Your fullbacks must be fast. Villa plays wide and will stretch the opponent as wide as possible using pacing wingers and fullbacks in joint attacks. 2. You must be positionally disciplined. Villa thrives on chaos, allow the game to be open and suffer. 3. Your CF must be out wide not central. Villa plays advanced fullback positioning using a high defense line. The advanced fullback leaves a wide space to explore. If you focus on marking them you lose. Instead capitalise on their weakness. Keep an extra man wide to overload that area of the pitch preferably the area where Diaby is. |

Spy360:The bolded is the main point. Their strength may end up being their weakness in that match. I wan see how their FBs go advance with Martinelli and Saka on the wing. I'm particularly worried about Zinchenko... |

Aston Villa have won their last 14 Premier League home games in a row. The last team to beat them at Villa Park was Arsenal. The next team to visit Villa Park is Arsenal. #arsenalfanaticsnews |

mostob:Usually they allow their central players to remain defensive while the wide players create an overload in the opponent's half waiting to attack with speed. The best way to deal with this is to keep your CF wide at the weakest most vulnerable point. G Jesus should join either Martinelli or Saka in the wide areas. This will force their formation to bend towards one side and create lots of openings on the other side. These are just my thoughts. Every formation no matter how strong has a weakness, it's left for the opposing managers to figure it out. |

Spy360:Excellent thoughts Nwannem, I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I had to go back and watch them even closer and I realized Emery is implementing the bulk of the same thing he was trying with us as coach. One of the tactic Emery utilizes is quick passing to transition from defense to attack, see their goal against City. They are not necessary trying to engage in midfield plays when they have possession because they want to be direct and transition into the final third of opponents half quickly. They also use long balls to transition plays from defense to the attack, thus evading the need to involve the midfield, see my first point. I saw Emery utilize this particular tactic when he coached us. They have 2 pacy forwards who can make runs behind the defense to connect with those long balls from defense. Long/ outside shots and the use of aerial balls to attack. For a team with small midfielders and attackers, they sure attack aerially. This is where I am most worried about because of Raya. We need Raya to control and dominate aerial play, otherwise we will get punished. The use of long shots is intentional because they have quick attackers who can attack any rebounds or spills from the goalkeeper. Overall, this is going to be a tough game and I believe Emery still harbors some discontentment with how he was let go and would want to use that as motivation. I believe this team can give a professional and disciplined performance and get all 3 points. |

Roland17:Absolutely. 💯 Emery also knows how to sit back and defend. I saw it in his Spanish teams especially in Europa League. I have never seen it this season though. I don't know what Arteta will do to mitigate those runs. Neither White nor Zinchenko is fast. Do we keep a high line to match theirs or do we defend deep and catch them on the counter? Raya has been a concern. That's why I said Ramsdale only needs to focus on the competition because I don't see Raya better than him. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 8:12pm On Dec 07, 2023 |
The best tactic will be to force them to deviate from their normal play. If they're implementing quick transition, give them the ball and mount a road block. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Roland17(m): 8:24pm On Dec 07, 2023 |
Spy360:A high line with Zinny/ Gabu/ Saliba is risky and requires perfect understanding and communication between the line. I think we should stay flat, not necessarily deep inviting pressure. Anything deep inside the box worries me because I don’t want to give VAR or the ref a chance to control the game with ridiculous calls. If Zinny is going to invert as expected then to your earlier point, he must be disciplined enough to return when we lose possession. Saka/ Martinelli are going to be important in supporting our fullbacks. The worst thing that can happen which is what I suspect is Emery’s plan and to your point once again, is to allow our CBs get dragged to the wings defending Watkins/ Bailey. |

Arteta on if he wants to stop celebrating: If I was given the opportunity no. I want to be there close with my players because we work so hard to be there. If I was given the chance I would be there jumping. #arsenalfanaticsnews |

Like many relationships, it owes plenty to timing. Arteta took his coaching badges with the Welsh FA, under the tutelage of coach Osian Roberts. The Welshman became a mentor, guiding the Spaniard through his UEFA B License during Arsenal’s 2015-16 season, his final year as a player. Arteta went on to complete both the A License and Pro License also on courses overseen by Roberts. During his time serving as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City between 2016 and 2019, Arteta began to prepare thoroughly for life as a manager. He held talks over several possible first jobs as a boss before ultimately rejoining Arsenal, and had begun assembling a hypothetical backroom staff. The plan was for Roberts to join him at the Emirates Stadium as his assistant. It was not to be. When Arteta ultimately got the Arsenal job — at the second attempt — Roberts had just committed to join the Moroccan Football Federation as technical director. Arteta had to go back to the drawing board, and turned to Roberts for advice. “It’s not unusual for a young manager to come and ask me for recommendations — they usually know the profile of coach they want, but might not know the name,” Roberts tells The Athletic. “I knew Mikel and what he would need from his right-hand man. “I thought about it for a few days, and the one that met the profile best was Albert.” Stuivenberg and Arteta met privately to discuss their football philosophy. They found a match — Roberts’ hunch was right. “I want to play recognisable football,” Stuivenberg has said. “For me, that means that we play dominantly both defensively and offensively.” Roberts had met Stuivenberg during their time serving as Ryan Giggs’ assistants with Wales. Giggs had worked alongside Stuivenberg during Louis van Gaal’s tenure at Manchester United and was sufficiently impressed to bring the Dutchman into the national team setup. [The Athletic] |

Mikel Arteta on the lessons he has learnt: "One of them is that when you get to March, April, you need 24 players fully ready, all fit, at their best, because that is when the title is going to be decided. We didn't have that. We had some key injuries there that really affected the team." [@SkySportsNews] #arsenalfanaticsnews |

Arteta has been warned about his future behavior following his comments after the Newcastle game . Referee Stuart Attwell gave a written glowing reference on Mikel and his overall professionalism. Attwell has also stated that given reflection and hindsight he would have given a foul and/offside if he was sent to the monitor on the day . He also stated that at match speed he did not believe it was a foul. Mikel has one more charge of bringing the game into dispute to be decided . #arsenalfanaticsnews |

I don’t know if it’s just me but I noticed the media has been trying so hard to boost the morale of Aston Villa ; skewing stats to portray their invincibility , and making it seem like beating them or not beating beating them will determine the trajectory of our season . |
