I remember some years ago when this particular bout was going on in my neighborhood, we brought a guy from the stadium to fight the hausa local fighters. This guy was a professional wrestler who later became a silver medalist at the commonwealth games. Despite huge sums of money staked on him, none of those local fighters agreed to fight him. Till today, I'm still wondering why they all refused to engage him in a fight.

I remember Usman Kamaru,the UFC champion visited one of the centre in the North..

The north use charms in local fights and preach Islam as if they are the holiest. Them dey even bet but their imams in Islam section ll say it's Haram. Lukgaf, rashduct4luv and co, what's islamic ruling on this kinda palava?

Very interesting! I watched one called "Mai tantabara" who comes to fight with a pigeon on his shoulder! As soon as the fight begins, the pigeon will fly off his shoulder and hover around and as soon as his master wins the fight, the pigeon flies back to his shoulder in celebration!
But if he looses the fight, the pigeon doesn't fly back to his shoulder!(they will probably meet at home later)

So much local juju involved! I even heard that some of them insert thier fighting hand into a grave overnight before a flight!!

They need to standardise the boxing gloves and fighters must wear Teeth Guard because most of the fighters have lost their front teeth due to direct blows from the very hard gloves made of knotted ropes
