OkayDaddy:
If you want to criticise, do so with your sense intact.

Where in the world don't they pay tax?
the taxes collected do far in Nigeria, of what use has it been to the masses and the country at large? Give the masses a reason to pay taxes and they won't complain about it. People of Nordic countries pay up to half of their income in taxes without complaint because they reap it's benefits. You can't tax a country into prosperity
Is it for one year
Yes, per year. But there is a catch; you pay penalty for each year you are in default. Penalty is ₦5,000 per year of late filing.

It is companies that are not paying yearly annual return, the bad part is whether companies engaged in any business activities or not for the year or made losses throughout the year, you are expected to pay a certain amount for filing to CAC...
Are you even in this country at all?

LagosG:
Makes sense. Many of these companies are registered just to enjoy the benefits of opening a corporate bank account and carry out fraudulent activities on it. Many are used to launder money for non existent companies. Yahoo boys, baby factories, drug barons, kidnappers, terrorists all have bogus companies registered just so they can open corporate bank accounts and freely move huge amounts all over the place without raising any red flag.

Good development!
You understand what is actually going on, I just downloaded the names of the company's, some are registered over 37 years ago. Some business are non existence again but their names are still with the government. So I see no reason for government to keep keeping records of non functioning companies.

They want to delist them from 1985 to 1991.
I just attached the first and the last page. It's over 1612 pages.

But how many small business owners are really making enough money in this country?

Federal government should figure a way to only tax those that are making money through their registered business names and not just taxing for the mere reason that a business name is registered.

My little cent though.
