Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi has refuted Bola Tinubu’s description of the tragic Kaduna bombing as an act of God.

Recall on December 3, 2023, a drone strike was carried out by the Nigerian Armed Forces on Tudun Biri, Kaduna. Targeting what they thought was a group of bandits, the army mistakenly hit a village, killing at least 85 civilians.

Tinubu, during his condolence visit to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, had described the military drone attack on Tundun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, as an act of God.

However, Obi, during a session hosted by Parallel Facts on X (formerly known as Twitter), countered Tinubu’s statement.

He stated, “Killing 85 civilians is not an act of God.” This statement was in direct opposition to Tinubu’s earlier comments.

Obi further expressed his condolences to the victims of the bombing and urged Nigerians to put politics aside and show support for the victims of the massacre.

85 civilians died and instead of constituting a powerful Presidential committee to investigate (at least for PR purposes), you just dismissed it as an act of God. We're talking of human lives here.

Peter Obi ran for President and not Governor of Anambra State.

As at today, he's a national figure and will continue to deal on National issues.

We have crossed the time of gossip and mama Ngozi and yard people talk.

If you don't like his comments, sniper is 1500, all thanks to your balablu. You can substitute it for milk. Thanks

How to know leaders that are failures.....

The hide under the name of "god" to deceive the gullible and masses and get public sympathy and support.

I just pray it won't reach a point in this country when Mr agbado would declare "the current hardship in the country as the will of god" grin

Early morning gibberish!

What has he said that His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCRF), have not said.

Peter just always trying to make a case out of nothing!

A mistake was made and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had extended his sympathy and condolences to the families of the affected. Investigation and inquiry has been initiated, and humanitarian assistance are already on ground.

What else does Peter demand!

Even AI or robots have more empathy or fellow human feeling than you do. You think you are smart by posting that edited headline? Is it actually an act of God for 86 people to be cruelly murdered by a specialised agency of State trained to protect and defend us and paid with taxpayers money? Where does that happen globally and the president would simply dismiss it as an act of God? Every Nigerian life matters.
I completely agree with Obi that the massacre was not an act of God. It was not a natural disaster. It clearly exposed the ridiculous level of inefficiency and decay which the public sector had been subjected to clearly due to leadership failure at all levels of government.
Tinubu's response was callous and unpresidential.

Tinubu displayed emotional intelligence (a leadership trait) - Tinubu was in the midst of Islam faithfuls and the victims were muslims..
Of course he knows the bombing was done by the military, but he is talking about Al Qadar - divine will and decree when he said "Act of God". While I do not believe in it as it encourages unaccountability, it's a coping mechanism for Muslim faithfuls.
