Meanwhile Nairaland is really just a mirror of what Nigeria really is. In the early days it was abroadians, upper middle class and people with good jobs who had internet and therefore access to Nairaland. There was a different level of discourse, but it was not truly representative of Nigeria. Now that internet is cheap, the masses have access and we are seeing how majority of Nigerians think and reason.

You are better off pirating imho. If you have good internet and you buy a hard drive, get qbitorrent, get sites like psa and you are off to the races.

You can no longer get all the content you want from any site as they have all reverted to the cable model.

Now you need different subscriptions for different shows.

Which is why sites like Facebook have automated moderation as a first line of defense, instead of solely relying on fallible human moderators as Nairaland does. I have seen with my own eyes how some moderators on here have allowed their kinsmen to get away with the most egregiously inflammatory behavior, while handing out instant bans to even the mildest attempts to put the trolls in check. Unless Seun is ready to hire 10x as many moderators, all of whom must be of non-Nigerian background (to avoid tribalistic "moderation" ), there is simply no way the current setup can do a decent job.

You can get all news from Linda ikeji, instablog etc and reddit is ten times superior to Nairaland In all aspects. The fact you even mentioned reddit is wide.

No. With Reddit, you have to follow subReditts to get news about each sector.

No platform aggregates national and foreign news, and topical developments all in one place like Nairaland.

Not Reddit, Quora, Twitter, Facebook or any other forum.

If you doubt it, mention just one forum or platform which does this asides Nairaland, Nigerian or foreign.

You get all news and topics on the sub reddits you follow on your dashboard and that's how it's supposed to be. I should be getting news am interested in and follow. You can get all Nigerian and foreign news on Linda ikeji.

That's the point. If this were Reddit, I'd be getting news on Programming and Startup news only. A limited scope. With Nairaland, you get the whole buffet with varyin upg scopings of the meals.

Also, you have to click on the Subreddits to read news on each sector since what you get at notifications with the distraction of going down the rabbithole which is the drawback of Twitter and Facebook.
With Nairaland, it's on one page. All you you do is open several tabs, read, then close. No distracting rabbithole. In 90 minutes, you could quickly skim through the developing news and stories in the polity, celebrities, tech, e.t.c. with ease and quoted from the sources.

Nairaland still towers above all platforms in this particular regard. Take it from someone who uses these other platforms well enough. Screw it; take it from the comparative analyses so far.

You have no idea what you are talking about. On Reddit you get all the news and topics on all the subreddits you are following on your home page. You just click on them to read and you can click on multiple pages to read on different tabs when using Chrome. How is it a limited scoop when am the one who pick the topics and information am interested in? If I want information on latest sports news, United news and UK news, I just join the subreddit and get those information all on my home page.
