Cash is not returning to banks. Filling stations, supermarkets, market women e.t.c all sell money to people doing POS. Those doing POS in turn sell to the average Joe on the street.

Ahn, I got it now. So the banks are no longer the reliable recirculators of cash as they have been traditionally

I guess CBN now needs to increase their percentage of physical cash compared to digital cash to rectify the situation.

I know some POS operators and they all get cash from banks.

Since the cash scarcity, they spend up to 8 hours each day going from one bank to another in search of cash.

Where the cash is, in particular, is still a mystery to me.

Right on the money.

It does seem like CBN believes there's even too much cash in circulation. They are not releasing as much as they should.

The smart ones go to filling stations to buy. That's where you can easily get cash under 5 minutes.

Shey it's money they have they will give na. I can assure you they don't have. At least, the ones here in PH. Madam was even telling me any armed robber who comes to attack her branch is wasting his time because they don't have money.

Imagine a branch that gets more than 20m weekly before now struggling to even see 2m.

I wonder why CBN has not said/done anything about it yet.

They have na. As usual, they transferred the blame to the usual scapegoats...banks. They may be partially right anyway but if there's enough supply, POS agents won't even get patronage with their ridiculous charges and everything will go through the banks.

Nairaland is bankable, I tackled it's UX strategy when you brought Reddit into the discourse. Nairaland is boss in Nigeria, and I think the reason was because it did the simple things well at the beginning and it has continued to enjoy first movers advantage, doesn't mean it's user experience is quite what it should be well over a decade later.

My third post today stated Nairaland needs a UI/UX overhaul. It's shit. Minutes ago, I referred to it as 2008-esque.

Reddit too has a bad UX though. Even Quora's is better than it. Reddit's UX is always stated as the key reason for its limited user expansion. It has a steeper user learning curve than Nairaland. Heck! Eskimi of old has a better UX than Reddit.

--
Nairaland still holds fast to those simple things. It has very good prospects if Séun would take on co-partners and let the team handle the engineering..

But it's never going to compete with Twitter and Facebook for anything else. This Séun too knows so all upgrades are essentially going to keep it a web forum.

Oddly, they do not realize Nairaland going down is Nigeria's loss. For all of its flaws, Nairaland is Nigeria's oldest and richest digital library. 18 years worth of everything Nigeria and Nigerian. The closest is allafrica.com but it's less than 1/5000 of Nairaland.

Take Nairaland down and the ChatGPT they so enjoy would return half-baked results on Nigerian issues and topics, for example.
I don't understand the emboldened

I have livescore app installed on my phone and I put Arsenal as faviorite. They always notify me 1 hour before the game about lineups, 15 minutes to kickoff they remind me and when the match starts they notify me. When goals are scored, red cards issued , halftime and fulltime I get notified.

You can do same for Chelsea; It's just with the form chelsea dey u fit vex delete the app after chelsea lose 2-3 matches grin
I have used the app before, as you pointed out, but the alert is more of a joy killer rather than helpful, and besides it tends to be quite hypertensive when you hear the beep, as the alert appears approximately 3 to 5 seconds faster than the actual video I am watching.🤣🤣🤣

I experienced this exact same thing yesterday. The LiveScore I was checking updated the score to 1:1 in the Barca match before they scored right in my eyes. The LiveScore was faster than the live match. I was now wondering if the feed we are watching is late by some few seconds.

Can anyone explain how there is cash scarcity in Nigeria?

With old notes plus new notes in circulation, one would think there is enough physical cash to go round

Or were all the old notes that were returned to CBN burned or something?

Nothing like cash scarcity in the North tho

Looks like Fubara sold all his rights just for the right not to be impeached

Las Las, man is only fighting for his right to be Governor and access to the State funds

I still think there are many subplots and twists coming.

For now with the current resolution seems Wike is at an advantage but the longer Fubara stays the more power he gets

And how do they maintain peace with the mutual suspicion in the house. An APC dominated house with a PDP governor

So assuming the governor actually does an impeachable act the house can't still impeach him because of the order from Abuja

As an aside Nairaland was reported for 'abuse'

Unfortunately in western parlance that could be anything

I was once banned on twitter for celebrating a criminal being beaten up.

Do you remember when adsense said nairaland was like a porn website

This was when Seun introduced all those hilarious censors

Love vendor, heavenly feeling, etal

Those were fun times deciphering mangled posts

If u watch on DSTV there’s no way LiveScore app update will be faster than the live match . It’s when u watch on those streaming sites that the updates get faster than the match .

I experience that when I watch matches not shown on DSTV or when I’m not home to watch on DSTV

Na iamoyindamola be ur surest plug for this . The “Breath of Life “ he recommended has turned out to be a good watch this far . If not that I don’t want to jump ahead of myself , I will say the film is better than almost all the films Kunle Afolayan has churned out this far .

I’m almost done wayching it sha

This is why some people think the current resolution may be at variance with the law. At what point will the house members jettison the resolution and impeach Fubara if he indeed commits an impeachable offence ?

The current resolution seem to give him a lifeline to do almost anything and he’s sure of not getting impeached since the order from Abuja protects him.

Anyways it’s a good thing Tinubu stepped in and didn’t declare a state of emergency which would not have solved anything and the oil installations there would have been at risk considering the so many non state actors in Rivers

From what I understand they are trying to avoid what happened early this year and people are reducing bank charges on deposit

I see some positives with the cash scarcity…. Every business I entered now have a POS machine.
The new norm is now to pay with your ATM card… you mostly need cash for transportation.

The resolution is heavily in favour of Wike. Infact, from what we heard from those that attended, the resolution was already decided and brought to the meeting for the parties to sign. That's why I kept saying Wike is not to be underrated.

Whatever the governor does, Tinubu will not allow him to be impeached. I heard there was serious pressure on him to have Ambode impeached but he allowed him conclude his tenure. It was even said that Tinubu kept making reference to that Ambode scenario and subtly telling Wike to allow him complete his first term and deal with him.

One thing is certain, we have not seen the end of the "war". Na to grab our pop corn and watch as events unfold.

Exactly na why the thing no too touch me
Even for transport I can load the cowry app online and scan with my phone for payment
Some danfo drivers that had pos during scarcity are back with their pos too
The people you might be needing cash to buy from are the pepper and meat sellers

Same here in Delta and Benin. Cash is everywhere and POS agents are not lacking I'm that regards. So I don't know why they keep saying there is scarcity of naira, perhaps it's just in few parts of the country.
