Babajide Sanwo-Olu @jidesanwoolu

Today, we commissioned the Ikeja Flyover, a key component of the Red Line Rail Project.

This significant milestone take us a step closer to the commissioning of the entire Red Line Rail Project in Lagos.

The Ikeja Flyover and its counterparts—Yaba and Oyingbo bridges—are pivotal to the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line. These structures are crucial in ensuring the safety and convenience of Lagosians as we advance in our rail transit system.

With the Ikeja Flyover's commissioning, we're witnessing the interconnection of critical pieces in our transit network. These bridges underscore our commitment to efficient and safe transportation for all in Lagos.

Grateful for the presence of Governor @RealAARahman, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon Mudashiru Obasa as well as other dignitaries at the Ikeja Flyover commissioning.

We are dedicated to building a modern and reliable rail transit system that enhances connectivity across Lagos.

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq @RealAARahman

Earlier today, I joined my brother Governor, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as the Special Guest to commission the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line Ikeja Overpass Bridge. It is another bold signature project of the Lagos State Government, and I am honoured to have been invited by His Excellency to commission it.

This important bridge has been built with the understanding of the Federal Government to separate vehicular/pedestrian and train traffic. I congratulate His Excellency the Governor, the government of Lagos State, and the people of the state on the feat.

The project, like others across the country, including our own Kwara, again supports the fact that development is a process, and not a destination. Between 1999 and now, we have seen consistent and impressive improvements in infrastructural development across sectors nationwide, including those that support mass transit system such as train. The Ikeja Overpass and similar projects like it are a bold testimony in this respect.

But particularly worthy of note is the huge advantage of policy consistency that we have seen in Lagos. Over the years, successive administrations in the state have built on one another’s successes and executed projects that strengthen the leading role of Lagos in not just the Nigerian economy but also in Africa. This is largely the legacy of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. In other words, Lagos has been a beneficiary of bold and progressive visions, built around people’s welfare.

I believe this is worth emulating across the country for faster socioeconomic growth. Regardless of party affiliations and individual differences, developmental agenda should be people-focused. I therefore commend His Excellency Governor Sanwo-Olu for following in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessors.

The project is not just another bold step in the development of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, it is in fact a progressive effort to improve life expectancy of the people by seriously curtailing the often-fatal accidents involving trains and vehicles and the risks posed to human lives.

Originally started in 2020, the beautiful delivery of this project of national importance has justified the time and the resources spent executing it.

Re: Governors Sanwo-Olu & Abdulrahman Open Ikeja Overpass On The Red Line Corridor by naptu2(op):
These overpasses and pedestrian bridges are designed to ensure that there is no chance of a collision between automobiles/people and trains.

Over many decades government has put in place all kinds of measures to prevent collisions between cars and trains. Barriers have been erected to block off the tracks when trains are coming, but people have repeatedly destroyed these barriers. Security agents have been deployed there, but people have ignored them. There have been several collisions between trains and road vehicles in the past 40 years.

Therefore, government has decided to make those collisions impossible by fencing off the tracks and building flyovers and pedestrian bridges.

This is, not only being done on the Red Line corridor, it is also being done on the route of the Blue Line. These interchanges at Alaba Suru, Iyana-Iba and Alakija are designed to provide seamless exits and entrances to the Badagry Expressway and ensure that trains and automobiles do not meet.

Is this how the road truly looks or this is just some photoshop? Hopefully, the project is not over inflated as we have in most cases.

Africa has impoverished herself.

We can only afford Chinese services and techs now. Most of western products have become too high in price.

What is considered as a low-budget product in the West, most Nigerians cannot even afford it now. Including those in Lekki, Ajah etc.

China is not far behind at all anymore. Their phones, computers and virtually most tech categories are gradually becoming global market leaders due to price and even quality ratio.

China will gradually overtake the USA in the next 13 years in-terms of GDP and global control of resources. It's very clear.

It’s people like you with tribalistic mindset that got this forum suspended in the first place.

You’re almost the first to comment yet accused others of complaining. “Why not just say Nice one Mr. Governor” and move on like a sensible being?
