Lush100:Many here won't or didn't accept the bolded when Giroud was with us. But I insisted because I thought rationally. You are right when you said some players do well under certain systems or managers even though we criticise them. Doesn't it mean that most of us who criticise cannot see how good the player is because the system blinds us or because we have preconceived notions of how a player should perform irrespective of the system in which he plays? Take Havertz for example, most people can't see how well he performs simply because of preconceived ideas? Same as Gabriel Jesus etc. |

Spy360:Gabriel Jesus makes us unpredictable. Harvetz had confidence issues and currently I prefer him in the starting 11. However baba most of us that criticized Arteta said he should ease him Harvetz into the squad and bring him in to make impact and blend with the team. Brother our team is complete oh maybe some bench power. White though has been below par. The Raya and Ramsdale battle still dey |

Spy360:Do we even have a best team? IMO, I don't think so. We may not be at the stage where we can confidently change the entire lineup and there won't be a drop in quality. But, we are not a 11-player team either. Can you put out that best team please |

Lush100:You're interested in goal and assist. I'm interested in growth, development, and dominance. Saka and Martinelli are not growing and developing. Let's say they are, it is slow as opposed to how we anticipated. You've not asked yourself why. By growing, developing, improving, and dominating, you become a force. We know this by internal history - Henry, RVP, Fabregas, Hleb, Nasri, Song, Ashley Cole, etc. We also know this by external history - CR7, Messi, Vinicius, Mbappe, Mané, Salah, Bale, etc. Even Rodrygo of yesterday. Saka and Martinelli are supposed to be in an upward trajectory based on the status of their club and position, number of games played, opponents, and level of competition they've played in. If you're a man of analysis, you'll realise it isn't upward but zig-zag. Today, up. Tomorrow, down. Next week, uncertain, unsure, excuses, etc. If you didn't follow football in the past, no problem. In the present, Bellingham, Vinicius, Mbappe, etc., shows us what it means that you're growing as a player. Not only in stats, but in force, command, total domination, etc. I watched Mané grow from strength to strength in Southampton and then Liverpool. Total dominance, force, unplayable, week-in-week-out performances, etc. Same with Hazard, Sanchez, Bale, Salah, etc. I'm an Arsenal fan through and through, but I can tell you for a fact that I'm not seeing this in Saka and Martinelli. Add Odegaard. We can all console ourselves with goals, assists, best player, team of the year, etc. I won't buy it. |

![]() Hleb, Nasri and Song grow but Saka ,Martinelli and Odegaard no grow ![]() Just dey play! Just say u don't like young players doing great for the club under a young manager and we will all understand. Except u know more than English national team, Brazil national team, Norwegian national team, the EPL and everybody within and outside the club that has appreciated the talent and professionalism of those young boys doing exploit not only at club level but at national team level. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Shegzdave: 8:11pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
Hausa:By growth and development, do you mean other teams looking to woo them away from the Emirates? So until Madrid starts wooing them away from us, is this what you consider Growth. Cause those young boys giving us double digits goals and assist every season and you say they aren’t developing? A quick question: How does attackers improve apart from goals, assists, high technical football IQ? |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by germaphobe(m): 8:25pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:He even made reference to Rodrigo growing but Saka and Martinelli ain't. Na him understand the type of growth and development he wants to see to believe. Martinelli Haven't been up with goals compared to last season, but how he plays have changed, but I think being always isolated on that wing is affecting his game(and his village people dey enter him head steady to Bleep up on final decision), last season xhaka was always with him, but now Havertz plays his own game. And I don't think anyone can say Saka Haven't been prolific this season. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Hausa(m): 8:50pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
Shegzdave:High technical football IQ. I'm glad you mentioned this. That right there is lacking in Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:56pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
Hausa:How do u measure “High technical football IQ ? “ . What metrics is acceptable to u for a player to be regarded as highly technical ? Let’s start from there |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:59pm On Dec 27, 2023 |
germaphobe:Most likely he just doesn’t like those players . If u go to Chelsea thread u will see people coveting those same 3 players he’s denigrating . Even pundits who are fans of other clubs can’t hide their admiration for those players . It’s only a person who don’t know ball that will leave assists and goals and say he’s looking for one personal attribute to judge an attacker . |

Spy360:Giroud was very average while with us. Very very very average. Even Chelsea fans will tell you he's average while with them. He can become France record goalscorer for all I care, it doesn't concern me cos I don't support France. Even the Havertz sef, not that he's even exceptional so far. It's just that the bar from us is set low for him, so we're just supporting him and hoping he picks up very well to what we expect of an Attacking Midfielder. |

"Rio Ferdinand On Saka And Martinelli" Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are now two of the most feared wingers in the Premier League and Rio Ferdinand saw it coming as long as three years ago. The young Gunners duo, whose combined age of 44 is younger than Ferdinand at 45, were both handed their debuts under Unai Emery but really cemented their status as Arsenal regulars under current boss Mikel Arteta in 2020. After one sensational display on Boxing Day of that year, during what was an otherwise dismal campaign, Ferdinand tipped the pair for big things. Speaking after a 3-1 home victory over Chelsea, the Manchester United legend claimed: "I watched Martinelli at Bournemouth away last season, him and Saka together, they have a link up and a relationship that's already there that I think in years to come will be a scary relationship. Scary! "They work so well together. And [Kieran] Tierney as well backing it up. But Martinelli, I have to say is going to be a tremendous footballer. Top player. He has come back into this team and he is showing what all the fuss was about before. He is going to be a huge, huge player. Massive talent. I just hope he can stay fit. Saka, him as well." Three years on, Ferdinand's prediction was incredibly accurate, with Saka and Martinelli two of the first names on Arteta's teamsheet. The pair played a vital role in last season's title charge and though the Gunners fell short in the end, the duo ended the campaign with 14 and 15 league goals respectively. Saka has picked up where he left off this term, with a further five goals and six assists in the league alone this term before Christmas. Martinelli has found goals a tad harder to come by, with just two league strikes to his name so far. Both still only 22, Arsenal have convinced the pair of them to commit their long-term future to the club in recent months. Both have shown on more than one occasion they are players that can be relied upon for the big occasions. Martinelli's only home league goal this season came in the form of a late winner against title rivals Manchester City. Saka netted in the north London derby, as well as a number of vital, last-gasp assists to keep Arsenal's title charge alive. |
