California Governor, Newson just signed into law a $20/hour minimum wage. Do you know what that means? A good nanny with a church and tender heart like me will work 10 hours a day and earn $200 per day translating to N200,000 per day, N6 million per month. I may even get free housing and utilities.

If you were to be someone like me, would you not japa and leave this lawless country?

The Dangote refinery is not about cheap fuel. We know what happens when you sell fuel below world market prices in Nigeria. It gets smuggled out for profits.

The Dangote refinery is about economic and industrial emancipation, job and income growth and development, whereby more and more people will be able to comfortably afford to buy fuel at international market prices.

Try to always lower expectations for factors you can't control. You obviously don't know dangote's motive or what's happening behind the scene.Dangote sells at prices that favours him and not what favours the masses.
And brazenly telling people to pend their japa plans because of dangote refinery is laughable.

If we are to live based on theory and analysis I can bet u that Nigeria would have been the best country in the whole world because our leaders promised us a lot of goodies but actualising it became a very big problem which is also the reason why we are still here....my brother it is unfortunate that theory is completely different from practical...so keep your analysis and too much talk to yourself cos it has not gotten us anywhere better.

Will it reduce the cost of local foods and daily needs goods? If not, why are you resting your hopes on a commodity that the cost is based on international pricing?

If you are planning to JAPA, my advice as an economist and oil industry analyst is that you WAIT.

Give it at least a YEAR from today before making the final decision.

The Dangote refinery is a game-changer.

Nigeria becomes self-sufficient in refined petroleum products, and a net exporter of same, bar none in Africa.

That’s a huge deal.

A great many businesses will be established in the months and years ahead based on our self sufficiency in petroleum products.

Millions of new jobs will be created.

In fact one foreign report states that the establishment of the 20 billion dollar Dangote refinery in Lagos officially makes Nigeria an industrialised nation.

In addition, Nigeria will stop importing diesel, petroleum products, fertiliser and petrochemicals.

“That is saving over $26 billion in foreign exchange” per annum, according to official sources.

In addition to all this, the Dangote refinery will generate 12,000 megawatts of electricity.

You can imagine the impact this will have on the economy going forward.

To JAPA right when the nation is on the cusp of economic and industrial transformation is in my view, ill-advised.

Hence I urge a one-year moratorium on all JAPA - related activities.

Happy New Year all, and God bless Nigeria.

It would make japa more easy and less expensive.

Every graduate or non graduate can now deal in kerosene for homes as the prices will come down due to volume of production, export of product in small small quantities to cotonu, ghana, Togo, niger etc will be so sweet as no prohibition. and products coming out from ibeju lekki everyday is everywhere and every bus stop. @bold

In the beginning I had a lot of faith like you that that would be the case, until Dangote and Otedola went bowing to the late queen of England. Then, before you knew it, Cheril Blair, the wife of former British prime minister, Tony Blair had become the director of the refinery. I heard Tony Blair himself has some role there too.

So, forget about economic emancipation because even before the refinery begins, it's already fully in the hands of neo-colonialists.

The next mistake you people make is that you don't remember to factor corruption somewhere in your metrics. Corruption is a huge factor to ignore when analyzing something like this in Nigeria.

Even if the refinery begins production but knowing what I know about neo-colonialism, I'll give it 5-10 years before I can say whether we have a refinery or not.

I laugh at the people entrusting the future of Nigeria to a business (Dangote) that has shown very little or no ethical boundaries lol.

A business that is all for profit irrespective of anyone’s well being would push Nigeria forward? Lol

I have already predicted what would happen when Dangote enters oil & gas, check price history way before Dangote announced his refinery to what it is now, this current price would even increase further when that refinery is fully operational.

By the Grace of God would be here to say i told you so.

Excellent!! The big elephant in the room is the fx drain and capital export to other countries as we fund petrol import receipts.

You forgot to remind the naysayers that FG through NNPC owns 20% of Dangote Refinery and the Port Harcourt refinery is expected to be fully up and running by Q1, 2024.

They have eyes but can't see because the land they cursed has withheld its fruits and blessings from them. They don't even understand the huge impact fertiliser sufficiency plays in food security. Now we talk about dry season farming and the era of fertiliser scam and scarcity has ended! We are even fertiliser exporter today!

Nigeria Stock exchange keeps breaking its own record back to back and may close tomorrow with ASI hitting an ath 75K!! Any person these blessings going around has not touched must examine the kind of life they live and beg the land for forgiveness. You curse the land, it curses you back! If the land curses you back, you will never be blessed by the land niyen.

God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

Smh. Insolent and uncouth as usual.

The time you should use to get yourself educated is the time you waste on insulting, criminal defamation and cyberbullying those who know more than you. Not even the education that NNPC gave the public that what it commissioned was the mechanical commissioning before the next stages and eventual final production commences could cure your ignorance and insolence.

It's obvious that you don't understand what Mechanical commissioning means and you should quit your criminal defamation and cyberbullying to focus on your education.

Below is a picture stating what NNPC completed. It is a very important stage of getting Refinery starting but i's not the final stage, it could take the next 2-3 months,i.e Q1, 2024, before other stages are completed and the refinery starts producing refined petroleum products.

NNPC didn't lie about it but you are obviously ignorant of the meaning of Mechanical commissioning. Smh
