The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, made a heartwarming visit to the National Hospital Abuja (NHA) to extend a warm welcome to the FCT First Baby of the year 2024, who was delivered at the stroke of midnight on January 1st. The newborn, named Boluwatife Johnson, brought immense joy to the Johnson family.

Amidst the jubilation, Mrs. Tinubu embraced all the newborns in the hospital, imparting blessings, and presenting them with essential baby gifts, post-natal care items, nutritional provisions, and cash gifts.

In her address, Mrs. Tinubu articulated the profound significance of the occasion, symbolizing hope and new beginnings for the nation. She emphasized the importance of creating a nurturing environment that fosters the well-being of children and families, ensuring access to quality education and healthcare. “We must safeguard the physical and mental well-being of our children, nurturing them to become the leaders, innovators, and change-makers of tomorrow,” she stated ardently.

Furthermore, Mrs. Tinubu urged nursing mothers to prioritize the well-being of their babies by ensuring proper immunization, practicing exclusive breastfeeding, and providing nutritious weaning food for optimal brain development. Expectant mothers were also urged to take antenatal and postnatal care seriously, reinforcing the significance of basic sanitation, hygiene, and timely registration of newborns.

Highlighting the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Mrs. Tinubu underscored the collaborative efforts with UNICEF to facilitate the proper registration of all births in Nigeria, thereby safeguarding the rights and protection of children nationwide.

A poignant call to action resonated as Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the imperative for women to undergo routine medical check-ups, particularly for HIV/AIDS, in a bid to prevent mother-to-child transmission.

Reverberating with compassion and optimism, Mrs. Tinubu extended heartfelt congratulations to the parents of baby Boluwatife Johnson and all the newborns in the FCT. Her poignant gratitude extended to healthcare professionals, volunteers, and individuals dedicated to ensuring the well-being of mothers and children.

The event also witnessed the gracious presence of the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, who expressed gratitude for Mrs. Tinubu’s benevolent outreach. Prof. Mahmud Raji, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of NHA, also lauded Mrs. Tinubu and the RHI for their invaluable support to the newborns and their families.

This heartwarming event further saw the esteemed presence of the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, alongside Special Assistants and dignitaries, collectively celebrating the dawn of the new year and the beautiful addition of life.

Nothing bring more joy than blessing of a child to the parent.

The best way to improve child welfare is for Tinubu's economic policies to be immediately reversed.

When did Yorubas started naming a baby on same day of delivery.. Anyway congrats to the parents.

By the way madam first lady please don't advocate for child welfare or anything welfare, the money will simply go into some people's pockets what you should advocate for is what we had during Maryam Babangida time.. Child birth control, our population is way more than our resources or even landmass.. It's a high density country in terms of population if not the highest in the world.. We need a birth control program not child welfare or else some folks will just be birthing children up and down saying the government will cater for them.
