No that is how most in fact all trailer boys sleep under their motor.
But this is not under THEIR MOTOR.... the driver would have called his boy(s) before starting his ignition.

How many times do u check all sides and under of ur car before u start the engine,
It's not his fault and how could a full grown man be sleeping under a truck
Those truck boys and their drivers sleep under their trucks but the mistake here is mostly from the boy cz this wasn't their truck; if it were...the Oga will look out for him before driving out and secondly, he would have told the driver he's sleeping under his truck. Then, the driver should have checked before leaving because under truck is spacious to check at a glance.

So bad!

No. Not sympathy but JUSTICE is what we want for the dead motor boy and his family. Though no amount of money is enough to pay for the life of the child, the driver should pay all that has been spent on the child until this age.

If not because of the bad Governance of Buhari and Tinubu, this child would have been in school instead of doing this kind of odd job.
Which justice are you going on about, sleeping under a packed vehicle is a hazard waiting to happen..
How is that the driver's fault?

That was someone's Son.
What was thee driver thinking that he couldn't come down to make proper scrunity of his truck before driving it.
What was the driver thinking?
How is this the driver's fault?
He went to sleep under a truck that is not his,the driver does not have an duty to check..

When I see people sleeping under parked trailers like that, I do wonder whether they are normal human beings. Anything can happen and the truck could start rolling on its own, in such case who do you hold? People should be banned from sleeping under parked trucks, It is hell risky.

No crime committed here. RIP to the unfortunate lad but no law broken.. he is under no legal obligation to check under his vehicle for sleeping people before moving... no such legal burden.. may sound harsh but it's the truth
A crime has been committed and the name is manslaughter

A truck that rolls on its own is an indication of a mechanical fault (if it's or can be established) or negligence.

Both are chargeable under the law. The only exception are acts of God.

Manslaughter requires negligence or recklessness. The drivrr had bo duty to check under his vehicle before moving. If you think he does, quote the law. There has to be a law that creates an offence otherwise the offence does not exist

Annie I don't think the driver was at fault. It's quite abnormal to sleep under a truck. It's unfortunate the boy died an avoidable death.

It's okay.

It's obvious you're not a lawyer.

Are you aware of a case involving an actress that killed a baby that was under her car?

What's your comment on the case?

"Nollywood actress Tayo Odueke is popularly known as Sikiratu Sindodo n the Yoruba speaking part of the movie industry. She was accused of manslaughter for crushing a 16-month-old baby known as Damilola with her car".

Mind you, she didn't know that the baby was under the car.

And was she convicted?

This is not about how much you can argue.

Once there is a loss of life due to the action of another person, regardless of the circumstances, it's a case of homicide and someone has to be charged.

So, what will the person be charged for?

Or you think the matter will be resolved using your approach? "Oh, the motor boy was not supposed to be there. Mr Driver, you're free to go home. The family of the boy will bury the dead'. You think it's this simple?

Has any investigation been done to even corroborate the story of the driver? Any autopsy done? Did the driver himself have a motor boy? If yes, what was the role of his own motor boy in the matter? Accessory?

Don't change the subject.

The issue is about the charge. Leave conviction out first.

Do you now agree?

What's the point charging someone out of sentiment when conviction can't be achieved? The charge was just to satisfy the desires of laymen like you...

If there's evidence he knew the boy was under the vehicle that's another matter. If he didn't know he's not guilty. Except there's a law that says he has to check under his vehicle before moving and there isn't!

The driver should compensate the family of the deceased out of compassion though..
