I watched the interview of the so-called NANS president in Benin Republic, Ugochukwu Favour, and to put it mildly, I was extremely ashamed on his behalf.

A president who can barely string together 2 words of fluent English is the president of the student body?

I thought the president would be the picking of the best of the best.

To me, I still don't understand the logic of attending decrepit primary and secondary schools and now attending a private institution, paying so much to "beautify a building that already has a faulty foundation". It's a waste of money IMO.

The FG cannot punish everyone for the sins of a few people. I think they should ban Nigerians from studying in those countries, going forward.

As for now, the deed is already done. Allow current students to finish their courses or transfer them to Nigerian universities.
U r not smart, most of the university Nigerians go to in those countries r below standard, some r even set up like secondary sch for only Nigeria student, d ban will discourage whoever want to embark on such educational tours to desist and not accepting graduates from those countries for NYSC is not death sentence, that's d best way to go.......we need to take action that will make the countries Nigerians are doing japa into taking our certificates serious, u ppl should stop condemning every govt action without deep thinking

I think the Federal government get an independent body to do a thorough investigation to unravel those involved rather than punish innocent ones among them.
This wouldn't have happened without the connivance of Ministry of education staffs, NUC staffs and Nysc staffs. I believed most of those schools in Benin Republic were just money making ventures for the school owners with little or no knowledge gained by those schooling there.
Staff is Staff, there is nothing like "staffs".

Don't let me correct you again, because it won't be funny.

Serves them all right!

I know these schools, well.
There's even this Pan-African University institute or so, I don't know if it's also listed. Students don't fail there, even if absent.
Just pay& get a full degree with well arranged transcript and all.

Most students who go to those places advertised to each other, how easy it is to gain admission, less rigorous it is to get degrees there, whether or not u want to attend classes.
I mean actually doing nothing scholarly- they keep going to/fro Benin/Togo/Nigeria doing businesses. Majority of them can't even pass for an OND holder after everything, go see them, especially d girls.

What about d so-called universities? They don't have facilities. Most can't stand d size of nigerian public secondary school compounds.
pan Africa university is at lekki. Sorry that is pan Atlantic university not the one u mentioned

So......?

In this case, I think it should be an issue of whether the FG was right or not, instead of how many people are affected.

What of the effect of thousands of potentially unfit "professionals" dumped on the Nigerian populace?

It's too bad this is where we are as a country, though.

Let there be thorough investigation. Maybe a regularisation system should be put in place for the current graduates and students from those schools, after which an absolute ban should be in place.
Do you know the crimes committed in the Nigeria Education sector? It's more than what is happening out there.

So, do we ban the entire Education sector in Nigeria?

The headquarters of education fraud trying to punish a learner in this regard.

Togo and Benin Republic should just adop measures to prevent subsequent crime and sanction the institutions affected. Nigeria can govto hell with their ban.

Infact, Togo and Benin should also ban Nigerian students from coming to overcrowd their institutions.

We have universities conducting "post UTME" exams for people already deemed qualified to gain admission for a reason.

We have companies conducting GMAT- level aptitude tests and multi-stage interviews for a reason.

We have some universities screening students' results for authenficity before admissions for a reason. Some professional bodies like the Nigerian Society of Engineers do the same.

We have the Nigeria. Universities Commission withdrawing accreditation of courses for a reason.

It's because of fraud in the system.

As for universities outside Nigeria, what can FG do to check their processes, if they do issue fraudulent certificates?

I advocate the same thing western institutions do for us, or a ban, like some countries do to us.

The government should 1st answer why millions of students go to other countries that doesn't speak English to study in English.

These schools are built for only Nigerians.

So a system created to govern a defined set of people should create law that will only suit 2% of the defined people and the laws shouldn’t be considered how it affects the remaining 98% just because the law creators feel it is just?

You can’t support APC and not be stupid. Jezz
Bruh.

I feel insulted, not because of your marked efforts to shame me, but because you brought support of APShit into this.

It's pointless. This is not about politics.

Can you enter most countries in the world as a Nigerian right now, without a police report that you ain't a crook?

How many countries admit Nigerians within their borders without checks?

Even China that exports convicts to work in Nigeria and earn more than Nigerian professionals doesn't grant visas to Nigerian Businessmen and women "just like that".

Are the 15,000 students schooling in the affected countries PDP or LP members?

Come on!

If our system was good what will make them go to countries like Benin and Togo for certificate racketeering, our education system that is always affected by strike.
Not necessarily the issue of strike. Majority of them are looking for easy avenue to escape JAMB, Post-UTME and lesser academic year. Imagine patronizing Higher Education in an Institution where you'll only spend 2 years for a 5 year course. Would you blame the government for thathuh

This FG is the most insensitive I have seen .... even bros BUBU dey learn work for where him dey!!!

There are good Uni and also bad Uni in those foreign countries mentioned..... Will u throw away the baby with the bath water also??

. Fix our educational system so that our youth will stop running to those mushroom countries to study.

He should also ban those ones in Sudan and Somalia where all those northerners go to study and get mushroom certificate too ooooo
Chief, it seems you don't fully understand the situation at hand. Majority of the student who patronize such Institution are looking for easy sail; where they'll spend 2 year for a 6 year professional courses such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy et al. Come to the North here and you'll amazed. Even some of the Schools have branches/satellite campuses in the North here. How can a student of Pharmacy, MLS or Nursing with no access to Teaching Hospital for practical demonstration be given a waiver. It's pathetic!!

Those seeking for easy degrees
in Benin Republic think say dem wise❗️❗️

When scholars are spending at least 4
years post WAEC to get degree in Nigeria,
these ones will step across the border to
Benin Republic and come back with degree
after 1½ years and get drafted to do NYSC.

I know of a friend's child that did
WAEC in 2018 and graduated from
a Cotonou university by late 2020 !!😮
Oga to even make matter worse, HND holders in Nigeria are still being required to spend 2 whole years for Top-up Bachelor Degrees in Nigeria while WAEC holders obtains such Degrees in 3 years in Benin or Ugandan Universities. Yet the useless FME & NUC are now carrying out yeye probe as if they don't know that before. NBTE even tried to run Affiliated Top-up Programs with Foreign Universities for such people but the useless NUC kicked against such. See the wickedness !!!. Such students would have to spend 6 years post WAEC to obtain first Degree in Nigeria as against 3 years in Benin, Togo, Ghana etc

He has spoken rubbish my friend. Why does our Govt makes it so hard & difficult for its citizens in the first place? Asking HND to still spend whole years for Top-up Degrees instead of one year even in the Western/Advanced countries.

Nigeria is not working, what is the difference from buying certificate in Benin Republic and paying bribe to lecturers to pass exams in Nigeria.. Let the charity begins at home.. Our education system is highly corrupted..
Example of an excuse: I'm only in an American jail for armed robbery because there are no jobs in Nigeria. Nigeria isn't working.

Own up to personal responsibilities...

Those people that went to Togo and Benin for degrees could always stay there. Utilise Togo degrees for Togo jobs since those countries are working. You don't have to return to unworking Nigeria.

And if Nigeria isn't working, why waste money to go study in Benin for degrees for jobs in the Nigeria that isn't working?

and why go all the way to buy degree in Togo when according to your argument, lectures will sell you certificate in Nigeria?

I once worked with a self acclaimed graduate who knows nothing about the job at hand but his subordinates always outperform him.

Apology for saying such but no harm meant only that the whole thing is very very annoying. How can FME & NUC even equate a 4 year course in Nigeria with a 3 year course in Benin Republic. in the first instance for God's sake? To make the matter worse, Nigerians studying in their own country has to pass JAMB & Post JAMB while those studying in Benin gained Direct Entry with just WAEC/O Level? Is that not absurd? We need to be critical critics of a critical situation in this matter.

In your words " we need to be critical critics of a critical situation in this matter". Then why is our education system making it difficult for Nigerians to gain admission into the our universities? You write jamb, again you write post jamb haba it sad, and let me remind you there are charges for this exams which the individual might not pass. So when you see our fellow Nigerians seeking for opportunities to upgrade outside our country, na our education system cause am.....

Tinubu and APCs mode of handling issues.
Take decisions and begin to make findings later. You now begin to reverse your decisions because it's a propaganda driven government, they don't think before acting.
