Musk once laughed off BYD as a threat. Now the Chinese giant has taken Tesla's EV crown — here's how

Elon Musk dismissed BYD in 2011 by laughing at their products during a Bloomberg interview.

"Have you seen their car?" Musk quipped. "I don't think it's particularly attractive, the technology is not very strong. And BYD as a company has pretty severe problems in their home turf in China. I think their focus is, and rightly should be, on making sure they don't die in China

We dey observe. China companies have mastered the skill of Ignoring critics and forging on.
They have conquered electronics, electrical, communication gadgets, hospital equipment Phone Industry, textile, chemicals, Railway technology and most finished products market such that even premium brands of other countries are either doing supervised Contract Manufacturing or Assembling in China. They are emerging in commercial aircraft production with C919 attracting orders getting to around 1,061 as at September 2023.

They have started disturbing the peace of chip manufacturers around the world despite the sanctions.
All popular blogs and news sites are reporting their challenges, progress and failures in advanced chip production.

Every one saw how they funded and developed their Space Program after being rejected in US led ISS.

When will Africa follow suit

Africans are leading the world in these areas of global innovation and growth

In less than 70 years China propelled itself from a poverty stricken country to a Country that is not just competing with the US in all fronts but even giving the entire West sleepless nights by threatening the existence of lots of their giant corporations and conglomerates alike; acquiring some, forcing many to merge and rendering many totally defunct.
