Pls pardon all errors.

I will try and keep this short, I have an aunty who works with one of the FG parastatals but she is contemplating on resigning. Reasons being:
1) the transport fare takes more than 50% of her monthly earnings as the distance between her house and workplace is far (ikorodu to CMS)
2) due to the distance she does not have the time to take care of her children as she has to leave very early and return late at night.

Ever since she told me, I tried to convince her to just hold on as i strongly believe that the minimum payment will be reviewed soon which will address the issue of salary but she stated that my solution does not address the other challenge of negligence of children.

Please i need advice on what she can do to get to work faster amd return home faster

Also, the husband is a business man that owns a business in the CMS area, I will be in the comments.

One of her family members or relatives (mum or aunt) to stay with them. Her hubby's family too can help.

Thank you for the response.
Currently all the husband's and wife's siblings are working in different states and all efforts to convince either of the two grandmothers to help out has failed.

She should relocate to close to CMS but her salary may not be able to pay the rent hence her stay at ikorodu with cheaper houses.

If she has to report to work every day then her salary alone should be nothing less that 150k per month. anything less than that is just a waste of her life.

My advise would be for her to start a business of her own and resign from that job if she can't relocate closer to CMS

if she resign, in few years she would wish she never did. Even those children will insult her for doing that. By the time her colleagues get to the pick of their carrier she won't be able to stand with them. Businesses are crumbling in this economy. Let her hold on, see the new minimum wage. Put Children in school where they stay till 4.oclok. By 4 everyone comes home. No federal workers pass 4 in office on normal level. To get federal job now is once in life time opportunity except she is sure of a fantastic business idea and money dey to carry on with it which I doubt. Her husband will encourage her to resign but if anything happens to the man, her suffering go thick like old jeans.

This is the major problem some people put themselves to in the name of I want to live in my personal house, forgotten the stresses that comes with it.Let her have a discussion with her husband they can get a mini flat or room and parlor within these areas like surulere, apapa road, ajegunle, Amukoko, oyingbo these places to island are within one hour on the road also they can get cheaper schools.by weekend go to ikd if they owned the house

How is she even coping coming home late? Of the husband owns a business in CMS she can always sleep in the business location pending when they get an accommodation but at this stage, it's not good for the wife to be far from the husband

Relocate to cms that's all. Don't resign when you don't have a better job.

Since both husband and wife have their means of livelihood centred around CMS area, they should consider getting an apartment around Obalende, Yaba/Oyingbo or even Iyana Oworo axis. They can rent out their house in Ikorodu or keep it locked and be visiting from time to time. This is the worst of times to be unemployed in this country.

Re: My Aunty Wants To Quit Her Job by Jewessgratitud3: 1:58pm On Jan 10
Let her not be quick in taking that decision of hers as that would be the biggest mistake of the year and it will be too late to go back by the time she realizes it.

Yes we know the need to be actively involved in her childrens life at this stage can not be overlooked however there's also a need for her to be gainfully employed so as to be able to manage her home and meet up with the financial demands of those children. She just needs to strike a balance between managing her home and career rather than letting one suffer for the other.

Let her get an apartment somewhere close to her place of work ( preferably mainland) and move. If that doesn't work, let her continue with the job and look for ways to make up for the days she's not with them. At least she doesn't work on Saturdays,so such days can be used for catching up on the things they missed out on as a family.

On no account should anyone quit their job in this hard times. With prayers our children can still turn out great.

Those are very cogent reasons to resign from a job.
Just that she should get another job or the process of getting one before leaving.

My friend this, that, my aunt this, that... blah, blah, blah.🤬

What's it gonna cost y'all to just admit, you're the actual party involved, and STOP hiding under a guise.

Your useless aunt can lose her job for all we care. 🤬

You abi your aunty's?

Anyways...
If she quit her job because of the children, in years to c0me she will hate the children...so quitting the job....No

On how to take care of the kids... she MUST look for relatives that can assist in taking care of the kids , no matter how evveryb9dy hates you, someone must like you...this is survival antics not emotional......Find helplers relatives to assist....A MUST.

As for the husband of your auntie this is the time fuuuccckkkkk your aunties brain out....

If transportation takes 50% of your salary, you're just working for working sake.
Re: My Aunty Wants To Quit Her Job by Femich18(m): 2:16pm On Jan 10
You just don't resign like that.
After resigning what will you fall back on?
I think she should relocate to somewhere closer to her place of work.
If we are to estimate the cost of transportation it will even get her a decent house close.
