According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, Kurdish paramilitary formations, under the control of the USA, are behind the attack.

Even U.S allies are avoiding a coalition against the Houthis.

Major oil tanker firm halts Red Sea trips after US strikes Yemen

A Danish fuel tanker giant said it’s stopped allowing its fleet to sail through through the southern Red Sea, a sign that overnight strikes on Yemen could add to disruptions in oil markets.

Torm, which owns about 80 vessels, said it is halting all transits until further notice.

The decision is in line with notifications from industry trade groups, which say the Combined Military Force, which includes the US and UK navies, has advised all merchant ships to stay away from the area of hostility.

For ships that heed the advice, it means that Egypt's Suez Canal, a vital trade artery, is no longer a usable route between Asia and Europe.

And it is unclear how long the blockage will last.

those allies are only close to the u.s because of the benefit they get. They dont like the u.s much.

⚡Germany plans to send F124 Sachsen class Hessen air-defense frigate to the Red Sea to participate in a military operation to intercept missiles and UAVs of Yemen's Houthis.

Welt report says the frigate is scheduled to be sent to the region on February 1.

A decision on the launch of a new EU naval operation aimed at protecting merchant ships in the Red Sea from ongoing Houthi attacks is expected at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on February 19, with the operation itself expected to begin at the end of February.

⚡A Finnish MEP has collected the required 120 signatures for a petition to strip Hungary of its voting rights in the EU Council

Petri Sarvamaa proposes to apply the procedure against Hungary in accordance with Part 2 of Article 7 of the EU Treaty. It provides for the possibility of suspending certain rights, including voting in the EU Council, against a state that has repeatedly violated EU values.

"We are one step closer to depriving Orbán of his voting rights... Next it would be very important to assess the final overall support for the idea of the petition in the plenary session," the deputy wrote.

⚡Taiwan elects Lai Ching-te, who rejects China’s territorial claim, as president

Lai has pledged to follow former President Tsai’s careful balancing of the US and China, in which she avoided formalising Taiwan’s de facto independence – and antagonising Beijing – by saying Taiwan was already a sovereign nation, and defending the status quo.

Beijing claims Taiwan as part of its territory and has vowed to “re-unify” it with China, and has not ruled out the use of force to achieve that aim.

China has called Ching-te’s DPP “a party of separatists”, detests Lai, and has twice sanctioned his new vice-president, Hsiao Bi-khim, who until recently served as Taiwan’s envoy to the US.
