They are funding their war chest. This year will be hot with terrorism. Billions of naira are being raised to fund the insurgency.

The truth is those guys kidnapping are not the ones who spend the money. They have some big daddies at the background who collect the money and perhaps give those guys a little of it. Otherwise, how would they be looking haggard whenever they are caught.

Whilst we sympathize with various kidnapped victims, it's important that we hold our security agencies responsible for failing in their job. I mean how worse can things get? These kidnappers have become so brazen that they now operate freely without any fear. Our security architecture (if at all we have any) has to be dismantled and restructured because it's obviously not working.

Secondly, I think paying of ransome should become a criminal offence. In case you don't know, by paying ransome, we are enabling the terrorists, bandits and kidnappers by providing them with the much needed funds to continue to expand their operations.

Now, to answer the original question; what will the kidnappers do with the 60m ransome? They will buy more sophisticated weapons, recruit more kidnappers and settle all their 'people' that participated in the operation. Is this not enough morale booster to continue in that illicit business?

I'm not sure that money will be transferred to a bank account. They prefer dropping a location where it will be received cash before releasing the kidnapped victims.

The kidnappers are not that smart. In Nigeria they have spys and support from Police, Army and even State and Federal Govt.
