Nigerians React As NYSC Urges Corpers Travelling High-Risk Roads Such As…. To Inform Loved Ones In Hand To Pay Off Ransom If Kidnapped By Bandits

In the wake of the distressing reports surrounding the kidnapping and tragic fate of one of the six sisters, allegedly killed by bandits due to the failure to meet a 60 million ransom demand, attention has turned to a notable instruction within the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) guidelines.

Nigerians are currently responding to a specific directive found in the NYSC literature, which reads as follows:

“When traveling on high-risk roads such as Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja-Lokoja-Okene, or Aba-Port Harcourt routes, it is advisable to alert your family members, friends, and colleagues. This precautionary measure ensures that there is someone informed and ready to facilitate the payment of any ransom that may be demanded.”

The revelation has sparked a wave of concern and discussions among Nigerians, who are grappling with the stark reality of insecurity on certain travel routes. The recent tragedy involving the kidnapped sisters serves as a poignant reminder of the risks faced by individuals, including members of the National Youth Service Corps, when navigating through regions with elevated security concerns. See some of the reactions below:

Introvert: “I chop query letter for posting this on my WhatsApp ah that time Mr olakamara na God go punish your papa.”

Ibk You: “E be like this NYSC I go skip am.”

David: “I was posted to Nysc kaduna camp that is situated in the notorious Abuja – Kaduna expressway. The bus I took from lagos refused to stop in that location because the driver and most passengers were scared of being kidnapped. I couldn’t even blame them. There was no light on the road, no security provided by Nysc or government. If anything had happened then, the government won’t even care.”

Eze: “That’s why they have never closed down a camp that has been a hub for kidnapping, if you’re kidnapped it’s your family business, serving the country must continue.”

Nysc has long outlived its usefulness, a corps member, who goes to serve his fatherland automatically becomes the responsibility of the govt, instructions like this is disgusting, distasteful and filled with all forms of insensitivity embarassed

That kind of instructions is really disturbing!
Well, someone already said Bandits are traders - more like Nigeria Conductor instructing potential passengers, "Enter with your change. Na last bus stop I go drop you I no dey stop for road ooo!"
No be "one-chance" dem enter so?!

Nigeria government is the most useless government have ever seen. Instead of them to provide free transport for Corp members eligible with maximum security, they prefer buying 1 billion worth of cars to useless ministers that are already rich. I swear Nigeria gaining independence is the worst thing that happen to Nigeria. If white are in power Nigeria cannot be so worst like this...

Unbelievable!! This is normalising kidnap for ransom and telling us ordinary Nigerians that we are on our own - the state cannot offer us protection from kidnappers.

But the former minister of communication publicly announced that he aided in paying for the ransom for someone kidnapped and you disbelieve this?

In a country like Nigeria you should know that the people benefiting from NySc would not want it end...
I've said it before the government should give these graduates money let them go invest on themselves or any skills they want....
#1milll would be a good starting point...

Things keeps getting scarier everyday. But unfortunately we keep getting used to it. I don't think Nigerians have breaking point at all.
