Shettima Should Handle Security, Tinubu Economy As Promised - Obi by iwaeda: 10:47pm On Jan 16
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has urged Vice President Kashim Shettima to take charge of security, while President Bola Tinubu, as an expert in economy would handle the economy as promised.

Obi made the call on Tuesday night in a post on his social media handle against the backdrop of rising insecurity in the country.

According to him, as terror attacks, banditry, kidnappings and violence continue to rage through the country, it is more concerning now with the surge of violence spreading through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

He said that the recent killings of two abducted young girls in Abuja makes it more depressing and urgent.

“It is unfortunate that President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2015, campaigned and won the elections on three items; Security, Economy and Corruption (SEC),” Obi said.

He said that after his eight years in office, the situation has worsened in all three areas and that the present administration, on assuming office, also promised to deal decisively with the same situation -Security, Economy and Corruption, but that today, however, the situation is getting even worse than ever.

At the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association held in Lagos in August 2022, the then Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen Kashim Shettima categorically stated that if APC is elected, he as Vice President would be in charge of security, while the President as an expert in economy would handle the economy.

Nigerians therefore now implore them to fulfil their campaign promises. Even if they do not achieve 100% results, we want to see 100% effort,
” Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor said that it is now time to stop all forms of foreign trips from people in government, until the nation deal with the ugly situation facing citizens at home.

“No foreign investor or partner will like to invest in Nigeria, with the situation we now find ourselves in. We must make sincere efforts to end the spread of violence and insecurity in our nation, in order to make any meaningful progress,” Obi said.

This is the kind of opposition that is needed in Nigeria.
Suggesting ideas that are able to drive government policies is what we need; not condemning every action of the government.
Let's hope they listen to Peter Obi.

Tell them.. only the emotionally blackmailed idiots will still want to sing the praise of the president when clearly the country is in disarray. Hardship, inflation, insecurity, exit of multinational companies, caricature judiciary, talk no do ministers, massive looting, you name it.. Some persons that have soaked their brain inside fuel like generator plug that need servicing will still come and sing the praise of Tinubu..

Infact may Tinubu happen to anyone who sings his praise in these current situation

Obi, what’s your business? The relationship between the President and Vice is their business, and you shouldn’t come in because you don’t know the dynamics.

Security issues will be solved, and we need new approaches, from surveillance to modern intelligence gathering and preemptive arrests. We need foreign partners, modern armed force with the best training, new reorientation, modern gadgets and how to use it, etc.

Obviously, quicker things can be done like regular patrols around hotspots, etc.

You don’t need to run your mouth and delegate how a government you are not part of ought to run.

You are right. Obi should keep quiet because it is only APC supporters that are affected by insecurity. Una dey run mouth for football clubs wey una no even get a single share in. You need foreign partners to burst kidnappers? No, Nigeria needs 2nd round of colonization.

Obi is not wise at all
He sprew foolishness with reckless abadon.

What I mean is in leadership as that of the president that is similar to a family, there is the father and mother, if there is a situation both always work in unison.
For Obi to start saying this he is purely mocking the president and Nigerians in general.
This is an insensitive remark all in the name of politics

No need for name calling. Does Obi want to join APC, so he knows what’s going on? Why did Obi leave PDP after almost 15 years? He walked away simply because he knew he won’t get the presidential nomination ticket.

The so called reasonable option won’t even show loyalty to his party when self interest beckoned.

In all these, where do you stand? There should be a limit to aimlessly supporting a political party, it's only the inner circle men/women that are enjoying the system. They move around with highly arm security forces, but those supporters who lack intelligence are left to roam on their own without security backings. And they still have the time to post rubbish online.
Except your duties is to keep distracting the public.
If you guys are so smart, why can't you all come out with a solution to all these security challenges?
I don't really know what's adults gain by trolling.

Security issues are complex problems that have festered for decades, from banditry, kidnapping, robbery, ritual killing to ESN secessionist agitators.

No magic wand, will take time. I said in the short term, we need more men in the uniform being proactive, and designated around hotspots.. Men in uniform and undercover. There is massive recruitment going on to address shortage of man power. We need all police officers and security outfits lying idle in non-important posts should report to the headquarters for training and redeployment. All hands on deck.

Long term, you want them trained together with competent armed forces around the world. It would gulp huge budget, so you need the economy working in tandem as well.

Tinubu is just getting comfortable on the seat and I believe is poised to solve it.

All you just said is story. If you like let the country have nuclear weapons, latest security equipment and one billion manpower. If there is no political will to work then, everything is useless.
As seen in the last administration, just because those causing havoc in the society were of a particular tribe and religion, they were treated softly.
It's only baby that will agree with you. Everything is politics to you guys. To solve issues are very simple, but because of the games you guys are playing you won't want to solve them.
Go and ask Israel how they solve their issues. Keep giving repentance to harden killers and thinking they will change.
Have any politician you know ever ever repented? Let alone a bloody killer.

And you just confirmed it again.

So you must be an APC member before you profer solution to a national issue ?
