Every UN resolution boils down to a vote. Its politics.
There are 1.8 billion Muslims and 49 majority-Muslim countries. On the other hand, there is just one majority Jewish state and only 16 million Jews in the world.

These Muslim nations' influence easily overpowered that of Israel.
In 2020, the Economy of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation which consists of 57 member states had a combined GDP(PPP) of US$ 24 trillion which is equal to about 18% of the world's GDP or US$ 30 trillion with 5 OIC observer states which is equal to about 22% of the world's GDP.
It is impossible to ignore this influence when considering how the UN votes. Even if you are not a Muslim country, you wouldn't want to be an enemy with a 30 trillion GDP.
I opened this thread to educate my friend Firstcitizen and others who have argued this with me in the recent past.

Whatever cruelty and brutality is happening in Palestine,
if your heart is not saddened by it, then mourn your situation.
When you look at bloodied children, dead children, how women,
old people suffer, how doctors die, and
fists clench, and tears well up in your eyes

So what do you suggest as the solution? That Israel should fold her arms while her enemies destroy her? Or are there no children or women in Israel?
I would also like to ask, since you presume that the life of a child is more valuable than that of adults, are you insinuating that the older we get, the less valuable our lives become?

It is not a point. Every country has its allies. Have you ever asked why the US supports Israel?
Lastly, many countries have disregarded UN resolutions. This include North Korea, Iran, Syria and Russia and nothing happened to them.
China also disregards the UN on the issue of the South china sea

The main reason is an oxymoron called Christian Zionism.
Evangelicals in America believe supporting Israel is a biblical mandate. The belief is that if Christ is coming back it will be to the land of the Jews ie Israel.
Israel has to exist for Christ to come back

Everyone disregards UN resolution because of US hypocrisy.

First only 46 percentage of Americans are members of a Church or synagogue so it doesn't add up. Also a much less percentage actually attain church.
Secondly, between 1948 to 1967, the US was Neutral. There was an arm embargo against Israel. In the 1948 battle, most of Israel's arms came from Czechoslovakia.
Note, at this time, there was a much larger christian percentage in the US.
The first time the US supported Israel in war was in 1973. And this happened because of the cold war. The Soviet union was on the side of Egypt.
Let's stop the lazy blame on Christianity.

It was evangelicals in Europe that first mooted the idea of a homeland for Jews believing it to be a biblical call even before Theodore Herzl began Zionism.
The purpose of Israel among Jews is different from those of Christians
Jews through Zionism wants to create a homeland for the Jews and Israel being a historical significance to Jews became the natural choice....the problem is the land is not uninhabited and the local population including some Jews never resisted the settlers it was the settlers who began displacing those the met on ground. And since they have Europe (who was too glad to finally get rid of jews) backing them with cash and weapons it was a matter of time before Zionists proclaimed the creation of Israel.

Christians on the other hand view creation of Israel as a necessary step towards the coming back of. Christ .

A personal belief here

Jews would have settled with Arabs long ago....but Christianity is not allowing that because it will be seen as a defeat of Christianity

A personal opinion

Hope you know that Christian Europe treated the Jews very badly. They killed and persecuted the Jews for close to 2000 years cumulating in Hitler's pogrom.
So the Christian Jewish narrative can't be right.
Finally, it was not the settlers who displaced the Palestinians but the other way round. Please can you name the Palestine villages that were displaced by the Jews before 1947?
If you do this, I would give you the list of Jewish communities displaced by the Arabs before that date.

Where did you get the idea of Christianity persecuting the Jews for close to 2000 years? Even some Jewish scholars will just laugh at what you said - for this presumes that Christianity began a wholesale persecution of the Jews the moment it was born.
What many of you keep forgetting is that the first Christians were Jews (and Jewish Christians exist till date).
It was the non-Christian Jews that started the persecution of Christians. Christianity was being persecuted by both the Jews and the Roman empire.
Christianity was a banned religion in Rome for the first 3 centuries - so where did you get the notion that Christians have always been persecuting the Jews?
The first recorded instance of the Jews being persecuted in the name of Christianity (which is not even universal) was during the Middle Ages - which by the way also targeted even some Christians.

Stop making it look as though the Jews have always been that innocent kid that Christianity have always been persecuting. The Jews (the non-believing ones) started the persecution of Christianity and this persecution continues in some forms till date (which is only rampant among few radical Jews)

Apart from the fact that your statement about the evangelicals is misleading (there are various views among evangelicals about eschatology), your assertion that the US is being hypocrite, testifies to the fact that you're either an hypocrite or ignorant.
The Arab world are the hypocrites here. They are far more guilty of the crimes that they are accusing Israel of. In fact, they are trying to deflect their own terrible crimes by distracting us with the 'crimes' committed by Israel in Gaza. The UN is characteristically silent on what is going on in Sudan - or are the Sudanese subhumans? What about the Kurds? Let's even come back here to Nigeria.
That the UN is characteristically silent about all these while screaming 'Jews this, Jews that', speaks volume of the hypocrisy going on among their members.
Israel just want to be left alone - is that too much to ask? Or don't they have the right to exist?

You are right the Christian persecution of the Jews is less than 2000 years. But now let's take an in-depth look at the European Christian persecution of the Jews or Antisemitism in Europe.

Persecutions against Jews were widespread during the Crusades, beginning in 1095, when a number of communities, especially in France and the Rhineland, were massacred.

On many occasions, Jews were accused of the ritual murder of Christian children in what were called blood libels. The first known blood libel was the story of William of Norwich, whose murder sparked accusations of ritual murder and torture by the local Jews.

The Black Death which devastated Europe in the 14th century also gave rise to widespread persecution. In the face of the terrifying spread of the plague, the Jews served as scapegoats and were accused of poisoning the wells. As a result, many Jewish communities in western and central Europe were destroyed in a wave of violence between 1348 and 1350. For example, some two thousand Jews were massacred by burning in Strasbourg, in February 1349, upon a decision by the city council, before the plague had reached the city. In the German states a total of approximately 300 Jewish communities were destroyed during this period, because of Jews being killed or driven out.

In the later Middle Ages, Jews were expelled from smaller and larger regions across western Europe as well as the German lands, including monarchy-wide expulsions from England, in 1290, and France, in 1306 and 1394. The greatest expulsions of Jews were in Spain (1492) and Portugal (1496), where Jews were ordered to convert to Christianity, or to leave the country within six or eleven months, respectively.

Their residence in cities was often limited to specific areas known as ghettos. Following the Fourth Lateran Council, in 1215, Jews were also ordered to wear distinctive clothing, in some instances a circular badge. Some Jews managed to evade the humiliating requirement of wearing a badge by bribing the local authorities

In western Europe, Jews were largely limited by local monarchs, especially as a consequence of the growing fear of competition with the local merchants due to the fact that the main occupation of Jews was commerce and banking. Notable examples are the limitation of the number of Jews allowed to settle in Breslau issued by Frederick II of Prussia in 1744 and the banishment of Jews from Bohemia by the archduchess of Austria Maria Theresa, who later also stated that Jews had to pay for remaining in the country

In order to restrict the Jews from spreading throughout the Russian Empire and to protect Russian merchants from competition, the Pale of Settlement was established in 1772 by the empress of Russia Catherine II, restricting Jews to the western parts of the empire with the exception of a number of Jews who received permission to live in major cities, such as Kiev and Moscow.

By the end of the 19th century a new type of antisemitism had begun to develop in Europe, racial antisemitism. It started as a part of a broader racist world view and belief of superiority of the "white race" over other "races", while existing prejudice was supported by pseudo-scientific theories such as Social Darwinism.

The main idea of racial antisemitism, as presented by racial theorists such as Joseph Arthur de Gobineau, is that the Jews are a distinct and inferior race compared to the European nations. The emphasis was on the non-European origin and culture of the Jews, meaning they were beyond redemption even if they converted to Christianity. This modern antisemitism emphasized hatred of the Jews as a race and not only due to their Jewish religion.

Another example of modern antisemitism in Europe was the conspiracy theory of Jewish world economic domination, as presented in the hoax The Protocols of the Elders of Zion which was first published in Russia in 1903 and became known outside Russia after the Russian Revolution of 1917. This theory was strengthened by the leading part Jews like the Rothschild family played in the European banking system.

The pogroms in 1881 and after the first Russian Revolution of 1905 cost thousands of Jewish lives and more than a million migrated to America. The second Russian revolution and the civil war that came afterwards sparked a new wave of pogroms against the Jews as nationalist militias and regular armies fought over the control of the country. The casualties from the pogroms were estimated in tens of thousands dead.

As you can see, I was trying to be brief, and thanks for the correction. I guess we both have learnt something today

This idea of blaming Christians is very unfair. Europe is mostly non religious. Stop viewing the crisis through the len of religion.

1. I'm curious, where did you get that statistics from? You people carelessly throw figures about. Show us the source of your statistics

2. Be honest with yourself. What would have happened if Israel does not have the Iron dome? Have you even watched the massacre of Oct. 7? Or what makes you think Palestinian babies and women are more important than Israeli babies and women?
Also, this makes me curious, do you believe that the older you get, the less valuable your life becomes? What makes the life of a baby more valuable than that of an adult?

3. Israel is not occupying their land. Apart from the fact that she won the land fairly by victory in conquest against the Arabs, Israel withdrew her citizens from Gaza in 2005. Does that look a nation that is interested in occupying Gaza?
Did you not hear that Israel once offered Gaza to Egypt but that Egypt rejected it? Does that look like a state that is desperately trying to occupy Gaza?

4. You're not helping the Palestinians - in fact, you're their enemy if you refuse to tell them the bitter truth. Hamas leaders are worth billions of dollars while their most of their subjects are in abject poverty. Whe you're blinded by hatred, you will always be open to manipulation. This manipulative tactics is also what Nigerian politicians use to divide the masses, preventing the masses from uniting together to overthrow them. Hamas is the greater enemy here - the better you point that out to the Palestinians, the better for them to see how they are being manipulated, the more they can begin to see that they can craft a better future for themselves

5. Finally, have anyone ever paused to ask this question: If the Jews should leave their state to the Palestinians and go elsewhere, what exactly do you think is going to happen to the land? You think Hamas will just divide the land among the all the Palestinians? Or you think that all Palestinians will just spread out of Gaza to settle in the land? Dude, even if they annihilate the Jews, the land WILL STILL REMAIN USELESS to the Palestinian masses - it will only belong to a few elites (which can also spark another series of wars that can last generations).
Or do you seriously think that if Nigeria won the land of South Africa today and drove out the South Africans, you will automatically get a land in South Africa, right?

It is high time you guys told the Palestinians to look inwards and deal with their blind hatred. Even if the Jews leave (which is highly improbable), their lives won't become better

As you can see, I was trying to be brief, and thanks for the correction. I guess we both have learnt something today

1. I still don't see what you're trying to. Some Jews have persecuted Christians and some Christians too have persecuted the Jews - the persecution is mutual on both sides

2. Due to many factors (political correctness, mental laziness, ignorance etc.), many tend to see the Christian persecution of the Jews in the same light they see the persecution of the Jews. For this reason, they tend to think that the factors that helped in resolving the former will also help in resolving the latter - which to the utter dismay of many, has never worked. Instead of going back to the drawing board, they'd rather blame the West or some powers as to the reason why the solution that worked in the case if Christians refused to work in the case of Muslims
3. The Christian hatred or persecution of the Jews is never borne out of the scriptures. Almost all the books of the scriptures were written by Jews - and it is entirely ridiculous that these Jews will preach hatred or persecution against their own race.
Of course, the Christian persecution against the Jews (I mean the non-Christian) is not borne out of scriptures - in fact, this persecution was successful in the Middle ages where the Bible is not accessible to the Christian masses - in fact, the translation of the Bible was prohibited.
It is no coincidence that the persecution of the Jews in the name of Christianity waned after the Reformation when the Bible became more accessible to the Christian masses. You might cite the case of Hitler but don't forget that it was the nations dominated by Christians that helped in resisting Hitler wholesale massacre of the Jews (if not for their help, the Jews would have likely been wiped out from the map).
Also, the Nazis that indiscriminately killed the Jews, often resort to drugs and alcoholic drinks to dampen the effects of the guilt they felt - most of them were guilt stricken.

Now, on the other hand, the Muslim hatred of the Jews is borne out of their scriptures. Muhammad hated the Jews - in fact, he was poisoned by a Jewish woman. Muslims believe that it is their right to dominate the Jews wherever they are, and that any notion of an independent Jewish state should be destroyed.
This explains the reason why, for instance, the Hamas millitants that raped and killed the Jews on Oct. 7 were jubilating and happy, in contrast with the Nazis who became more sober in the night for what they did during the day.

To deal with the blind hatred of the Jews by Muslims, the books that are taken as scriptures by Muslims need to be reviewed. Islam needs to undergo Reformation.
That's why I laugh at people who say that the war of the Palestinians against the Jews is not a religious war. Let Egypt or any other Islamic nation come to annex Gaza or occupy, the Palestinians will just go silent. The West Bank was occupied by the Jordan government for almost 2 decades, yet there was no outcry of the 'Palestinians' against the Jordan government - in fact the Palestinians are supported the occupation. It was when Israel won the land in a defensive war, that the cry of 'occupation' began.
Many people refuse to accept the fact that Islam is a political religion - you can hardly separate politics from religion in Islam (the way you can in Christianity). For this reason, many are carried away with this idea of seeing the Arab aggression against the Jews as merely political (which I find completely laughable).

The idea that some Jews have persecuted christians is actually laughable. We are talking of an ummached scale spanning over a thousand years and living so many dead. For over a thousand years the Jews were not allowed citizenship and rights in christian Europe.
Why do you think we have more Jews in America than the entire Europe today?
I think it's unwise to deny history.
