Ibadan Explosion: Time to Focus on Internal Security, Strengthen Amotekun - Osun Lawmaker, Mudashiru

The lawmaker representing Ayedire-Iwo-Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Lukman Kayode Mudashiru has described noted the explosion that occured in Ibadan on Tuesday night indicates a time to focus on Internal Security.

He also noted that this is also an indication that it is time to strengthen that Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun.

The lawmaker, who is also the Vice Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights stated this on the sideline of the Telu Cup final match on Friday at Oluwo Stadium in Iwo, Osun state.

He thereafter called for thorough investigation into the matter while calling state Governors to focus on building a formidable internal security architecture within their state.

"The incident in Ibadan is sad and very unfortunate and I want to commiserate with everyone who had lost their loved ones or properties.

"But it is also an indication that it is time we begin to focus on internal security and for us in the southwest, its time to strengthen our own security outfit, named Amotekun.

"We must also ensure that thorough investigation is carried out to bring to book people who have ran foul of the existing laws in the nation thereby putting the lives of million at risk", the Lawmaker noted.

Mudashiru then commended security agencies and rescue workers who had swung into action since the incident occured.

The law maker just woke up from slumber. The level of insecurity in Nigeria has been going on for long and he said nothing,but is now acting as if he cares. I don't blame them,they move around with bulletproof cars and enough security,so insecurity is not their problem.

When things like this happen,they just come out to talk and feel important. Deceiving their gullible supporters more.

Timely and proactive statement if only the governor will listen. Unfortunately, it's in Nigeria's culture to only act after the deed is done. Lord have mercy.

This is not the first time the Hon. has voiced concerns about insecurity. If we all recall, this Hon. spoke up in the House of Representatives last year regarding the one-chance syndicate perpetrated by the enemies of this country.
