OP is a very popular tribalist in Nairaland and hate anything South west.

Look at him trying his best to discredit Lagos but when the government want to make a proper change by taking down houses that are messing up Lagos plans he will also be the first one to open thread and cry how Lagos government is demolishing igbo houses.

Oga just shut the Bleep up with your tribalism mindset

Is Abuja also in South West?

GDP, Lagos v. The Whole Countries Talkless of Cities

Lagos: $266.55 (2021)
Ethiopia: 111.3 billion USD (2021)
Libya: 42.82 billion USD (2021)
Morocco: 142.9 billion USD (2021)
Algeria: 163 billion USD (2021)
Tunisia: 46.69 billion USD (2021)

So nobody knows what you mean by 'development' because Lagos is the #1 city in Africa by a distance
I'm not talking about GDP, I'm talking about actual infrastructural development.
If you consider infrastructure, Lagos and Abuja are no where top 20 in Africa

The mental decay and damage is really a very deep one the most pitiful is seeing poor and wretched nigerias praising and supporting the same leaders that undeveloped their land and rendered them totally useless.
You still can see some people arguing about this. People who never left Nigeria.

They see their Lagos and Abuja as gold. They won't understand what I am saying until they leave Lagos to another major African City

We like quoting figures and forgetting about the reality on ground.

Check the information the op submitted and forget about those figures our politicians used to deceive us.

Nigeria is a very large slum. Let's tell ourselves the truth.

In your spare time, go to Google, type compare Nigeria with (input any country). You would discover we are only in par with countries like Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Cameron, and other war torn countries. But we're not at war!

The only thing we beat most countries is child birth and stupid unproductive landmass which has even be occupied by bandits.

The scariest part of it is that before we get it right and things start to fall in place, we'll be in our 70s/80s because its quite hard to build.

Okay, states like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta (let me not even call Lagos) is bigger than numerous countries like Maldives etc in both Landmass, GDP etc. Those state should have their capitals more beautiful than those counties' capital. But what do we have? A group of people pocketing everything in their account while their demonic minions cheers them up and defend them.

An average Nigerian has become a beggar. Listen to them speak, you will hear extreme hopelessness. It pains me...
Na so so slum una dey write, poor people like you with una small smelly mind,na aesthetics Dem take dey fool una for everywhere.

Nairobi is not more "developed" (as in built up) than Lagos.
But it is certainly more civilized and cleaner than Lagos.
Gaskia.
Nairobi is as built up, cleaner and has more infrastructures than Lagos. There's no city in the whole of West Africa that can compete with Nairobi in terms of development.

We are saying the same thing Anambra for example is filled with billionaire just like Joburg what stop Anambra from taking the initiative when Lagos as failed ?

What can Anambra or Abia lead the way and over a redundant Lagos or why can you at least out if your hypocrisy talk about how underdeveloped Anambra n Abia is compare to this same Lagos.

Lagos remain the most developed Nigeria state but it as been looted n destroyed without any facilities amenities or infrastructure yet all this giant Anambra Enugu n Abia can not overtake it ? What then is the problem.

That my friend should be what the problem is. We can all agree Lagos is rubbish, a disaster n every other bad negative n poisonous adjective you have up in your lexicon but what can't Anambra Enugu Abia for example overtke this same Lagos that as been retrogressing for decades ?

Do you not think all the governor from those state need to be beheaded for failing to match up to Lagos or even possible overtake it after decades n decades of degradation n underdevelopment ?

Workch:
Dude, we have a long way to go. Should I shock you?

Cotonou and Lome are far more organized and have more infrastructure than Lagos generally and I don't even want to mention Accra. Nobody that has been to those cities will disagree, Lagos only has more economy and money but we don't see what they are using the money for.

The question boils down, if Lagos is as wealthy as Johannesburg, why is Lagos not as developed as Johannesburg? Think about it

Of course when Lagos made itself conducive to attract all this so it can keep progressing what was your state looking ?

You think state develops without leveraging on advantages or what exactly is your point ?

For your wailing soul imagine Dangote offering to build his refinery in Ogun n it governor was demanding a share of it earn, this Lagos you are bad mouthing heard about it n gave Dangote tax concession knowing well the amount of development such billion dollar investment will generate but a dull unintelligent soul somewhere will wake up in some ipob region start blaming Lagos for attracting those investing not minding the work it leadership put in to earn them.

All countries in Africa are regarded as 3rd world and developing countries. They all have slum and most of them have more forest than livable cities. We can as well tell all the governors of the 36 states in Nigeria to stop developing their states and come and develop only Lagos and Abuja and porthacourt alone. No country has everything perfect. I am well travelled and i know that Nigeria is not as bad as you put it.

I know Lagos is probably the most developed city in Nigeria by landscaping and second to Abuja infrastructure but going outside of Nigeria, Lagos and Abuja may not be able to compete with their contemporaries infrastructural wise.
This post is not to meant to undermine Nigeria but for us to see that we have a long way to go as a nation.
When I mean infrastructure, I refer to transport system, aesthetics, public water, organization and quality of life.

1. Johannesburg, South Afria
2. Cairo, Egypt
3. Durban, South Africa.
4. Cape Town, South Africa.
5. Oran, Algeria.
6. Casablanca, Morocco.
7. Tunis, Tunisia
8. Pretoria, South Africa.
9. Alexandria, Egypt.
10. Algiers, Algeria.
11. Rabat, Morocco.
12.Nairobi, Kenya.
13. Tripoli, Libya.
14. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I would have loved to engage you on this
But the moment you mentioned ipob
I realized, you're not worthy of having a conversation with
They dull tribalistic mindset you have, is what kept Nigeria
Where is it
O.p mentioned Lagos and Abuja, 2 Nigerians leading cities, but because you're emotional attached to Lagos, you thought it was a tribal attack, you left Oyo, Ogun, Nasssawra, Niger that are all closer to the mentioned cities, and started your normal masturbation on Abia and Anambra

Develop towards poverty or develop towards wealth? Because there's a definition of developed you have that is so inaccurate that it actually tells you that a poorer places is more developed than a richer place.

My grandfather used to hate when people spoke pidgin around him lol. When we were young we thought it was funny, but as I get older I realize there is a level of stupidity a person can only express in pidgin because no other language can accomodate that low frequency of a thought process. Unless we one day figure out snails and mosquitos have their own languages. See how you have to switch to pidgin to express they dumbest thought in the whole paragraph?

So they should not develop n overtake Lagos because they were just created n were never FCT even when we can clearly see other African state n cities are overtaking Lagos ?

So we should just be celebrating other cities outside Nigeria overtaking Lagos while other cities in Nigeria refuse to overtake the same Lagos that as refused to develop but instead is retrogressing ?!

Addis Ababa central district has better newer and longer skyscrapers than Lagos. What are you even saying?
