Dear Nairalaners, Kindly journey with me from Lagos to Ibadan in this little write up.

When I heard about the declaration of President Tinubu that train ride will be free from December 21, 2023 - January 4, 2024 (Later January7th, 2024), my mind was telling it was a lie. I even tried to book a Ticket but the site was not opening. So I thought It is another scam from the government.

The whole story changed when one of my friends told me when to book a TT online and I tried it. I booked on 29th of December and the journey was for 30th December 2023.

On the D day, armed with my Ticket, I quickly went to Iddo train station at Ebute Metta, only to be told that train does not work on Saturday ( I was directed to Mobolaji Johnson station at Alago Meji, Yaba) Where I was to board the train going to Ibadan. I quickly showed whoe ever cared to ask my Ticket from my phone I got there around 1: 50 PM and was waiting for 4: 00 PM departure.

I booked for Business class and I located my seat with little help.

The AC was chilling and the staff are well behaved. My cabin is the kitchen from where food is being prepared for the entire cabins

Bola tinubu should extend the rail service all over the country.

we started the journey at 4: 00 pm and in about 15 Mins we got to Agege station where other passengers also boarded

from there we moved to Agbado station, some more passengers also boarded and after that we moved to Sango station, where we also picked

up more passengers.

Next stop was Papalanto, this time some passengers disembarked from the train and we picked some more passengers and we headed to Abeokuta, where some passengers alighted from the train and we picked more passengers.
The next stop was at first station in Ibadan, Omi Adio. That is how we got Ibadan at about 6: 15 pm. It was an unforgettable journey. All thatnks to the FG and Baba Tinubu

Sorry that I failed to mention that it was actually my first train ride experience.

Just the experience of a train ride, the cost of transportation to my place from the train station was on a high side, but I enjoyed the experience. I will make my family to ride with me next time.

I’m waiting for a future when people can live in Bayelsa and work in Rivers State daily. We are missing a lot in this country. Somebody will take a train ride overseas for five hours to attend a weekend function and come back whenever convenient. I believe we’ll get there someday.
