There is no single language called Ijaw.

Of course there's no single language known as Ijaw but there are group of languages and dialects that share a lot of relationship which anyone can agree they have a common ancestry. It is these collective identity that one can use to say they all are one people. You can't just wake up and go start claiming a people with different language, culture and norms as your own people. It will always fail and create further problems for you.
Linguists have studied the various languages in Rivers and Bayelsa state and grouped them accordingly.
In Bayelsa, the Epie-Atissa people are edoid speaking and not Ijoid and they mostly occupy Yenagoa- the capital of the state.
The Ekpeye Igbo group are also found in Eastern parts of Bayelsa state. Ogbia people are have a language totally different from Ijoid and they are the largest of the Central Delta language group. GEJ is not an Ijaw man. You can check it up yourself.
Finally, saying Ijaw is not a language while using the same Ijaw to steal other people's land is dumb. Common sense dictates that for you to claim another group of people to be your brothers from the same ANCESTRY, there should be a level of language similarity even if the intelligibility is very low. You can't just claim everyone around you by muttering a phantom ancestral link whereas, there are no physical proofs on ground.
Go and tell those people who sent you on this ignoble mission that they are wrong and should retrace their steps early enough.

GEJ isn't an Igbo man by any means. He's of Ogbia ethnicity who's language is neither Igboid or Ijoid. Ogbia language is a stand alone language and has other smaller language affiliated to it. It is the biggest of all the Central Delta languages.

This is the problem with a riverine man in Rivers State, Ethnic division.

The riverine areas of Rivers state are not very well populated like the upland and even that area has Igbo groups sandwiched among them. Igbo speaking groups are comfortably the majority in the state and can decide to keep the governorship for as long as they like. I don't subscribe to that though.
Besides, the other ethnic groups apart from the Ijoid ones aren't really keen with the Ijaws given the history of Ijaw leadership during the old rivers state politics.
