This isn't a political achievement. Lagos has the most natural indentation on Nigeria's coastline so it is the only port that can berth such a massive ship.

Other ports along Nigeria's coastline also host large marine vessels even though they're not as developed as Tincan in Lagos

Abject mediocrity and misrule that has made Lagos a glorified ghetto in the league of global cities, since it has failed to have mass transit, water and sanitation systems. Why do you think that Tinubu omitted these things from his master plan that may have been copied from Chicago

Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

This is a really remarkable project.
I don't know whether it is a 100% Lagos state funded project, or whether the Federal govt contributed in part or whole to its funding.
I strongly suspect federal funding because this is Nigeria.
If Lagos state funded it solo, then there's no reason why Ibaka seaport should not have been completed by now.
Governments of eastern states should learn from Lagos about delivering big projects.
Truth.

Just a bitter, twisted and sadistic soul. Even more sad if the character is truly female.

What could be more sadistic than what has been inflicted on Nigerians since May 29 last year? Are you aware that the petrol price increase in a single day was the highest in the history of the world? In other words, in no country have petrol subsidies been removed totally in a single day so as to jack the price up at once by two hundred per cent. In every country this is done gradually in phases. Only in Nigeria was it done like that. Don't take my word for it, research it, I did. What is that if not sadism?

And then you follow up immediately by floating the naira leading to such depreciation that devalues the naira so much that the inflation that kicks in is murderous. Is it that you don't live in Nigeria, or you don't shop in Nigeria or you are so rich it doesn't register with you? Because I don't get it.

When people say these are teething pains they are deploying a familiar excuse for bad policy making. This could have been handled much much better by any leader who was sensitive.

Sadistic?
Think again.

This is beautiful.

The government should help divert some cargos to this port to decongest Apapa port.

This port looks under utilized.
Decongesting the entire ports in Lagos is also good for the nation. We want to see ports in the South South in full operation too. Just like we have international airports now

Lagos state has 20%.

Lanrelagboi:

Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL) is the Special Purpose Vehicle which was awarded the concession for the development and operations of Lekki Deep Sea Port by the Nigerian Ports Authority. LPLEL is required to develop, build and operate a standard user multipurpose port under a concession and has sub-concessioned the container terminal operations to Lekki Freeport Terminal, a subsidiary of CMA-CGM.
LPLEL is a joint venture enterprise owned by a group of investors led by the Lekki Port Investment Holdings Inc. (comprising China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd and Tolaram), the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Ports Authority.

LPLEL is incorporated under the Companies & Allied Matters Act and licensed by the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority to operate in the Lagos Free Zone. This opens a host of benefits for Lekki Port regarding taxes, duties and other incentives.

The shareholding structure of the Port is as follows: The Lekki Port Investment Holding Inc. (international consortium) owns 75% (China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd 52.50%, Tolaram 22.5%), the Lagos State Government owns 20% while Nigerian Ports Authority owns 5%.

The problem is that, too much money now to clear the containers, is killing the business and making things more expensive.

Nigeria government are collecting big revenue from many business men in that sea Port, what are government doing with the revenue collected from the sea Port. Uk government have percentage from the revenue collected there. Bad people everywhere

Laws are useless if the government does not enforce them properly through adequate number of sanitation inspectors.

What is being done for mass transit and water supply in all buildings

Don't say that ooo. It's an automated port, you don't expect what happens in apapa to occure here. Trucks comes in pick containers and depart immediately, thesame thing when they return empty containers. No loitering around .

Save your rubbish for those who care. You don't understand the concept of relevance and taken every news on it's own merit.

When good developments are highlighted, you celebrate that and save the lamentation for a thread where such is relevant.

Your lamentation is as wanted here as someone shedding tears about a recent death, at the naming ceremony of a new baby that has brought joy to people who simply want to celebrate and be happy at that time. It does not mean they dón't understand that death and pain exist in the world.

They simply know there is a time and place for everything. Yes those I call sadistic are exactly that and joyless also.

Ah well.
Context is everything.

Remember that those you address also speak in context.

Someone up there for example, was lavishing praise on the president on account of the subject of this thread.
It is in such a context that those pained by his policies will rightfully raise their hands.
