The risk far outweighs the end result/prize..
Most of them dont make it to their choice destinations. They either end up in a wrong location, they could get thrown over board, they could get sea sick and die, they could get eaten by by sharks, they could drown, they could starve to death,or dehydration, the propeller could crush them to death, rough waves can sweep them away.

1. How do you decide which ship will reach Europe?
2. How do you get to access the ship rudder without falling into the waters?
3. How do you bypass the securities and get to the ship?
No average human, will walk into the ports, go near a random ship, and not come prepare.
I feel someone is being paid to get people on board.

I think throwing illegal ship occupant overboard is a criminal offence. Most ship captains don't engage in such act again except crazy captains. They would hand them over to the local police if they come across such.
