That is, if NIgerians are ready to pay for electrictiy at market prices, not government price.
Most people are willing to pay for what they actually consume. Not when there is barely electricity and you keep giving them estimated bills.

Let's simply hope our political class have a change of heart, they are the ones stifling the efforts of the companies with their bad economic policies and even made companies of their own as a conduit for the steady siphoning of our commonwealth

As hungry and single this one is, at 35. This one is hawking bigotry on her head like gala. P.O doesn't own a brewery he has shares in it. I don't understand if some of you Nigerian women were cursed with bitterness. No wonder men beat you all blue black, wih your golddigging mentality.

Problem is, the bills themselves are not cost-reflective.

And then some do not pay for the power they use.

At the end, a combination of the above...government not allowing the discos set their prices, plus the rich and poor not paying for power...and at the end of the day, losses result.

Estimated billing is a symptom of the problem. If most people are not paying for power in a certain area, you end up not getting enough profit...so estimated billing becomes a way to make more money. Even then, e no cover losses.

Meanwhile, MTN, AIRTEL and GLo, as well as DSTV and your local provision store are all in business because they can set their prices, and because if anyone tries to steal airtime...well you can't YOu have to pay all of these companies at the prices they set before you can use their service. Power does not have that benefit.

And government is the one keeping such bad polices.

Good to know.

I wish them all massive success.

However, in the absence of committed and decisive leadership at national and state levels to improve Security, Electricity supply, Anti-Corruption, and Infrastructure, there will be no improvement.

While these corporate organizations strive to succeed in Nigeria, government must be ready to make the nation safe and business-friendly.

We are talking about industries, not domestic users.

Do you know that Star Paper Mills in Abia State has 6 units of 3 MWatts of Generating Sets totalling 18MWatts of Electricity? They are Diesel Generators and the company buys the diesel at market value and you are asking to pay a fair price for electricity? You do not know that one company operate 18 MWatts that can power a city of domestic users. Stop being obsessed with inflicting more pain on the populace.

Industries and corporations are paying their fair share but the supply is inadequate or non-existent.

Where are Tinubu master plans? Did Tinubu used those companies you mentioned to develop Lagos?
So Nigeria now depend on private business to survive. Nigeria is coursed till we put stop to corruption, incessant killings

Well, at the end, as I have told you, the problem is tarrifs are not cost reflective, and a large percentage of customers do not pay for power.

But since you talked down to me last time because I held different views from you, I end it here.

Things cost money. If it makes you angry, I can't do nuthin.

I wonder while we don't look up to Tourism in Nigeria.
Egypt generated $15 billion from 14.9 million international tourists in 2023.

I think we should do better.

Will well channelled strategy, we'd generate alot from Tourism

90% of those on prepaid meter pays their bill, how do you expect someone on extmated billing paying you N15000 every month while his neighbor on prepaid hardly finish N5000 monthly. I will comfortable paying N200 per unit on prepaid than paying N15000 monthly on expected billing

Very impressive.

Lekki Deep Seaport.

The Nigerian government owns 5 per cent shares, while the Lagos owns 20 per cent and the Lekki Port Investment Holding Inc owns 75 per cent through the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV- Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited).
Hope NDI FG favouring LAGOS can read

LAGOS STATE STAKE IN LEKKI PORT IS GREATER THAN THAT OF FG

The fact is

1.Your power bills are not cost reflective. They are kept below market price by the government to keep voters happy.

2.40% of customers do not pay for the power they use.

3.I doubt those who are metered who pay are up to 90%

All that adds up.

At the end, most power companies lose money, and do not earn enough to meet their keep.

Proof? 15 licences have been paid for for power stations, yet none of the licencees are doing anything...because they know they would lose money on their investment if they proceed. THey do not benefit anything from getting a licence by the way.
