Nice list. I was expecting to find mining/quarry and construction companies their because of the huge amount allocated to infrastructure.

In reality, the Nigerian economy actually looks up to every segment especially the agricultural sector and informal sector which both employ the largest number of the Nigerian population.
May God bless Nigeria for ever!Check my signature for free stuffs!
so ac country of 200m people and touted as the giant of africa only has 10 companies that its economy is standing on. and when you review the list again, you will see that its not really up to 10 and that is what you are celebrating.

by the way, when did Nigerians say they are looking up to these 10 companies?

The fact is

1.Your power bills are not cost reflective. They are kept below market price by the government to keep voters happy.

2.40%
Let them distribute prepared meter to everyone and increase the tariff to cost reflecting or better still make the prepaid meter available for anyone willing to purchase.
I don't know why everything is upside down in this country

2.40% of customers do not pay for the power they use.

3.I doubt those who are metered who pay are up to 90%

All that adds up.

At the end, most power companies lose money, and do not earn enough to meet their keep.

Proof? 15 licences have been paid for for power stations, yet none of the licencees are doing anything...because they know they would lose money on their investment if they proceed. THey do not benefit anything from getting a licence by the way.
Do you know that most payment on estimated billing are going into private account? Is it also the fault of consumer

The above is a symptom of the problem.

Once upon a time, there were a lot of nations that were communist. They subsidised a lot of foodstuff. The result...scarcity , and a thriving black market.

I mean, is any of MTN or airtel money going into private account? Dangote money, is it going into private account? GLo kuma?

At the end, take away the profit motive, and wuru wuru and mago mago go result.

I wonder while we don't look up to Tourism in Nigeria.
Egypt generated $15 billion from 14.9 million international tourists in 2023.

I think we should do better.

Will well channelled strategy, we'd generate alot from Tourism
We should stop deceiving ourselves. Some things sound good on paper but there is a reason why they don’t work in reality.

Anywhere with a tourist industry has certain qualities.

1: stable power
2: good transportation primarily good roads, reliable air transport.
3: security
4: consumer focused hospitality sector. Quality hotels and quality staff.

If you dont have these, all you have is potential and paper tourism. Nigeria doesn’t have these. The infrastructure for tourism does not exist. Tourism cannot save Nigeria. It is Nigeria that can can save tourism. Tourism will only become a big industry as a by product of Nigeria getting its act together in other aspects.

You want to clearness $15b a year from tourism like Egypt? Do you know how much we need to invest in roads, hotels, airports, airplanes mindset change to acheive this? Probably $100b a year for 10 years! Do we have a plan for that kind of investment? You ask tourist to go visit the cradle of yoruba land in Ife for instance? Do you have trains or good roads to take them there? Do you have even a 4 star hotel there to accommodate them?

Mind you that while we are in the doldrums, many of our so called tourism potentials are eroding. Our beaches are being destroyed, our wildlife are being decimated. Is it the forests under deforestation as trees are felled for lumber or the rare animals we kill everyday as bush meet we are asking tourists to come and see? Where are your lions, your elephants, etc?

Even you the Nigerian that is used to the discomforts of Nigeria do not explore your country, why would a foreigner who is not used to 12 hr delayed flights, bad roads, banditry,
rude staff, bad hotels?

Finally, is it the same country we constantly bash to foreigners when things do not go our way that we want to attract foreigners to…both FDI and tourism? I have never heard an Egyptian, American, Brit, Emirati or citizens from any other top tourist destination demarket their country to foreigners because they lost elections….or for any other reason.

It is SMEs that drives an economy and not all these big names mentioned here.

Government should give out loans for the establishments of SMEs,to boost economic activities and in turn increase the living standard of Nigerians.

I wonder if Tinubu has any credible and worthwhile economic team, they look confused

until we go back to agriculture....
Agric won't help NIgeria. Unless we have massive plantations with mechanization...agric won't help us

All the African countries on agric, are either heavily in debt, or struggling. Like now, all of our African cotton producers are being beaten into the bush by USA cotton producers who are outproducing them at a heavy rate. ALso, see how Ghana tried to get a fair price for its cocoa, and how that failed misreably.

If we can process our agricultural produce into exportable goods, maybe we may see something better. But the days of agric saving us ended in the 1970's.

Generate and transmit sufficient power, curb corruption, conduct a corrupt-free oversight on private businesses, you will see growth. Also things like shielding Minister of Interior for failing integrity test(all because he is a boy of the Chief-of-Staff to the President) will need to end first.
