There was a commotion on Monday afternoon at Ire Akari Estate Area of Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State as a furniture shop was gutted by fire.

The fire outbreak reportedly started around 3 pm.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that the fire emanated from a furniture shop. Efforts are ongoing by members of the community to prevent the spread of the fire. As of press time, the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Also, an X user, @rosheethat, posted a video of the fire while calling for help.

She posted, “Ire Akari Soka right now. Anybody that can help us.”

Furniture shop people are notorious for setting their sawdust and wood shavings on fire......meanwhile those things can be like explosives during dry, hot periods like this.

Reminds me of what happened in my neighborhood 30 minutes to the new year.

This one's better cos it happened in daylight and people can quickly see it and help or get shelter.

Person even die sef inside. There was barely any remains left for ambulance to pick the next day. Nobody for my area know when new year sef even reach. The picture was taken 12:04am
