RIVERS ASSEMBLY FROWNS AT GOV. FUBARA'S APPOINTMENTS, ADVISES GOV. FUBARA TO OBEY EXTANT LAWS OF THE STATE IN HIS APPOINTMENTS

The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday, at its 100th Legislative Sitting frowned at the appointment of Mr. Goodlife Ben as acting Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Mrs Ine Briggs as acting Director- General of Bureau for Public Procurement, and Mr. Tonte Davies as acting Administrator of New Cities Development Authority.

The House expressed its displeasure when the Majority Leader of House, Hon. Major Jack called the attention of the House to a Government Special Announcement in that regard.

Citing sections of relevant laws, Members commented on the information and pointed out that the Governor in the exercise of his powers has relegated the laws to the background.

Speaking on the appointments of the Governor, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, stated that the actions of the Governor in appointing someone to act as the Administrator of New Cities Development Authority, a body not known to any legislation in the State is condemnable.

Rt. Hon. Amaewhule further averred that the appointment of an acting Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, and an acting Director-General of the Bureau for Public Procurement are acts inconsistent with the provisions of the relevant Establishment laws of the Commission and the Bureau.

The Speaker wondered why Governor Fubara would deliberately act in violation of extant laws and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as altered, knowing that such acts constitute misconduct.

When the Speaker put the question, the House voted in the affirmative and resolved to write to Governor Fubara to draw his attention to Section 44(3) of the Rivers State Local Government Law No. 5 of 2018 and Section 5(1) of the Rivers State Public Procurement Law No. 4 of 2008. The House expressed its displeasure in those questionable appointments, which it viewed as an aberration and a violation of extant laws.

These are assembly members would soon eat the food that will be prepared by the state citizens πŸ˜‚

They're trying so hard to push the governor to react, they should be very careful, very soon a judgement would come declaring their seat vacant, and all action taken by them would be null and void, then payments of salary and allowance would stop until appeal court set the judgement aside, then we move to supreme Court that would nail their coffin and declare them jobless.

Trust Amaechi camp wouldn't allow have APC ticket to even go for rerun. πŸ˜‚

Rivers State need to learn a thing or two from Delta State. You see how Warri is now a useless town where the only jobs available are yahoo yahoo, okada, keke napep, and area boys.

When companies start pulling out of Rivers State thesame way they pulled out of Warri, you'll learn the hard way./

Keep constituting nuisance.

Nigerians will suffer it.

The biggest mistake of Fubara was taking advice to attend a 'peace' meeting in Abuja where he signed already prepared sheet of paper by Wike and agreeing to withdraw court cases against this legislators that have lost their seats by defection to APC, something that Wike will never do as governor or FCT minister.

Imagine an ordinary local government Chairman calling him 'mumu' in public, try that with Obaseki and he will remove the roof of your ancestral home for renovation during heavy rains or Yahaya Bello will use bulldozer to divide the road to your village into two cheesy

I love the Igbo proverb that says "if a snake 🐍does not display the scary part of being a snake little children will use it to tie a bunch of firewood"

Fubara needs to be more alive to his duties and responsibilities. He is the governor and the chief executive of the state. He should begin to deal with these kangaroo legislators that are bent on drawing Rivers state backward. He has all the instruments in his possession and he should begin to use it. Wike and his rats should go to hell.
