At the expense of the masses. Suffering over excessive taxes and bribery.

Unpopular opinion...We should be interested in knowing how exactly these revenues were derived. The Nigerian Custom Services are faustrating cross border logistics with unjustified severe fines and bureaucracies. Those who are into importation and exportation will understand this perfectly. While developed countries use their custom authority as an engine for enabling business, Nigeria uses theirs to generate revenue.

A company I worked with in 2014 literary abandoned 3 units of 20" container shipments at the port due to frustration from customs. My contacts across Europe would always say that Nigeria is the most complex country to move shipments to.

While custom agencies in other countries are streamlining their processes to be more business friendly. Customs and CBN are making theirs unnecessarily complex and faustrating.

Don't mind them. They made worst of all revenues in history last year. All those figures are worthless nowadays. There was a particular year I made over 100m naira in sales for the company I was working for over a decade and half ago, when 1usd was less than 200 naira at the official market. Recently I did the maths and realised if it were today, I'd be generating almost 2bn naira in sales.

Absolutely

But in my head I’m calculating your bonus % for that sale

Customs are just legal property kidnappers

All their achievements are driven from suffering of the mass

Lol. The commission was the last straw which broke the camel's back lol. Most Nigerian employers are slave drivers. My boss didn't fulfil his promises. It was cos of that commission I turned myself into a workaholic. I was working round the clock.

By the time commission was to be paid, tori com start. He go com dey vex on top small mata. Eventually, he slashed the percentage. I got angry and resigned. He paid some and left the rest unpaid.

This is not a good indices for growth.... It means we are highly dependent on import and our Custom is more interested in making more than facilitating trade.

Yes, it will lead to another problem.

Everyone will divert to crypto, which will be another big issue Nigeria don't want to have.

Imagine when all the FX in the country are digital. Even bank won't like that.

Is not about making policies, they need to understand the people they are dealing with are not fools, there will always be a counter mechanism
what of if the government band crypto?

They want to keep on importing
What’s annoying me is that instead of the government to be looking for ways to remove certain bottlenecks from our customs, to allow for easier and faster movement of goods, instead they are targeting how to generate more revenue, quality delivery is the last thing on their mind, their own is how to get more revenue

I am saying this same thing, everything about Nigeria is always about money or extortion.

Jamb has been turned into revenue generating agency, immigration same thing, even police same thing.

A lot is wrong with this country, if u say it they will call you iPob, with the extortion left right centre, Nigerian government still have the guts to be saying they want to bring back toll gates.

They say Nigeria is the best place to have money is because everybody else is poor, so if u have any money every body would be on ur feet.
