It is very simple. The igbos and yorubas have never had an alliance. They have never trusted one another. Although there are good relationships on a person to person basis.

What both of these ethnic nations now do with that history is up to them. The animosity has obviously been handed down from generation to generation and scaled through social media.

What happened to the opposition parties? None scored up to 500. May be they didn't field good candidates, may be they were suppressed, may be they didn't push their supporters to vote. Else, I see no reason a PDP or LP getting such paltry votes.

Both parties were very Unserious,laguda posted his posters every,he was literally in our face every morning. LP and PDP didn't take this election serious at all!

With the history of Nigeria fresh in our memories, only a stupid Igbo will think of having a political alliance with the Yoruba.

Tell yourself two simple truths:
1) Hope Uzodinma is not representing the interest of Orlu senatorial zone after he closed the Imo State university teaching hospital in Orlu but struggled tooth and nail to get a federal university teaching hospital in Owerri.
Hope Uzodinma has made the principal cities in Orlu zone to decay but builds only in Owerri senatorial zone.


2) CHARTER OF EQUITY: Owerri zone hosts all the federal government development infrastructures in Imo state, including FUTO, AIFCE, POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE, FERCOLAT OFUROLA, ALL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PARASTALS in Imo state are in Owerri area.
EQUITY in a state includes distribution of govt institutions and parastatals among the three senatorial districts in a state; EQUITY is not limited only to zoning of governorship positions and other elected officers.

Until Orlu senatorial zone gets a governor of Imo state who will address the imbalance in Imo state, there is not going to be talk about Chatter of Equity in governorship position.

Owerri people struggle and locate every important government establishment in Owerri in Imo state; because people of Owerri know that there is hardly any cultural relationship between Owerri and Orlu/Okigwe zones, Owerri is more related to Ikwerre in Rivers state, than with people in Orlu and Okigwe zones. That's why we are having only one modern and rapidly expanding city, Owerri, in Imo state. Orlu and Okigwe are abandoned to return to the 19th century status, also because the governors from Orlu zone unfortunately, are hardly educated.

So now the money voted for Surulere fed and other constituencies across Nigeria where this bye-elections held don waste like this ? Most of them have picked up political appointments and few of them died. A law should be made that if you are not sure of staying one place then don’t contest. Let us not come and be wasting money any how except in few cases of the incumbent dying.

Damn! What a landslide victory. If only they could verify the 11000 attached to the APC candidate score and PDP candidate could be disqualified too, LP candidate would've won this election hands down. Now, some people might start saying they LABOUR IN VAIN again. Too bad.
