https://punchng.com/efcc-arrests-41-suspects-impounds-truckloads-of-lithium-in-kwara/

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ilorin Zonal Command, has arrested 41 suspects and impounded 12 trucks containing different types of solid minerals mined without license.

Parading the suspects in Ilorin on Tuesday, the Zonal Commander of EFCC, Mr Michael Nzekwe said that the suspects were picked from various locations including Patigi, Igbeti and Ogbomoso areas near Kwara state.

The Commander said that most of the arrested suspects were truck drivers adding that some of them had named some foreign nationals and one or two Nigerian big men who were behind the illegal Mining.

He warned that the EFCC would not relent in its efforts to fight against corruption just as it is leaving no stone unturned in breaking the rings of the illegal mining operators across the country adding β€œAside from the law that frowns on illegal mining activities, the act is an economy sabotage capable of causing environmental devastation, socio-economic hardship, insecurity, banditry and a host of other vices.”

According to him, the offence is punishable with life imprisonment under Section 1(cool (b) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17, 1983.

The Suspects arrested include; Nura Lawan, Tunde Jimoh, Sani Umar, Oyeleke Sunkanmi, Adegboyega Oluwashola, Mohammed Umar, Muhammed Abubakar, Dawud Muideen, Chukwu Okpara Idam, Ganiyu Roqeeb, Umina Umina, Nura Ibrahim, Isiyaku Jibril and Samaila Ibrahim.

EFCC now stands on the highway?

You are the one who can answer that question as na you wey Don waka up and dan naija

You can tell us every agency and non government actor that polices our roads. From ndlea to customs to local govt task force to bandits to esn

As you are expressing doubt...maybe the story has k leg

But all of this illegal mining definetly is hand in hand with banditry. And there is big demand for lithium. What we should be doing is manufacturing lithium batteries in Nigeria. They manufacture most of the world's hard drives in Thailand. But once again, some niggers are selling out the country for some mirrors

I am not doubting the story. I am just surprised EFCC have left their offices and started mounting roadblocks, looking for truck drivers. Why not hand them over to the police?

To your other point, the fact that this arrest was publicised shows we are not serious in this country.

You have not identified the foreigners or "Big men" yet, but you have quickly rushed to tell the world you have arrested their boys. So the foreigners will be waiting in their houses for EFCC's call baa?

I have said it before that mining is not Yahoo where you can hide in a flat, and be pressing. Everyone will know that you're mining there.

How come we are celebrating the arrest of truck drivers, when they can easily show you where they loaded the lithium from?

The NNPC pipeline was the last we had at Abule Ado

After that, the next was at Abule egba or Iyana Ipaja, and all was at least, 2 years ago.

How e take be majority?

Anyways, as long as gas refilling plants are littered everywhere like POS shops, we should be expecting these kind of stories.

The man lacks emotional intelligence; he chose the wrong time to praise his boy. Whether he wrote that epistle or not, Nwabali's valuation has definitely increased as a result of his performance thus far. Praising and saying he stands by him in a match against his own country is just the man looking for hate from his fellow country men.

I hope the man's other businesses in South Africa don't suffer if Super eagles win eventually. Football na emotional sport, South Africans can cancel the man just for this yeye stunt

That's not what she meant. She was speaking Yoruba; what she meant was that Joseph Aloba was not behaving like a real father. A father indeed will not be going on tour to media houses, releasing music video and soliciting funds from the public over his son's untimely death while the son is still unburied 5 months after his death.

I listened to the full audio in Yoruba and she was visibly frustrated that her son has not been buried even when autopsy has been conducted. She also said they do the much taled about DNA within 3 days and then bury her son. She is pissed with the tantrums the man has been throwing all over social media pointing fingers at the deceased son's wife and calling her grandson a bastar.d openly. She cussed at those bloggers that have been saying so much toxic things about the whole situation just by listening to the man's story and forming an opinion.

Personally I believe their family is a very toxic one and neither the father nor the mother of Mohbad were good parents to him. I believe if they actually acted as good parents while the boy was being bullied , maybe he would still be alive today.

It comes down to the usual. No barrier to entry. You can decide to build a gas plant tomorrow. You will probably call one artisan as the expert to build the plant for you. Standards will be flouted. Corners will be cut. The site will then be run by staff who do not even know what the standards are. On top of that there will be theft. Someone will open a pipe to steal gas somewhere and it will start leaking

Next thing spark. Next thing fire.

I have not said anything about Xenophobia. I am simply talking about common sense.

Replace SA with Norway or USA, and what he said would still be out of folly.

You have an SA club to run
You live in SA
You are from SA

and you openly support your team's opponent, when you have everything to lose.
