I really don't know about Basketball, but do we scout for foreign groomed players for our team?

With the way Nigerians full America, we should be hunting for all these fresh babes to play for us?

At least we can go from 46 points to 52 points next time
I think we do. There were some American born Nigerians that wanted to switch to Nigeria one time but were denied. I don't know if the rules has been reversed. All the women in our squad are playing for foreign teams.

It is quite unfortunate that President Tinubu is defining an era of hardship just like Buhari before him

During PMB' era time I dey hear things like "for this Buhari economy" now Tinubu don get him own"economy" and it's significantly worse in almost all ramifications.

Quite unfortunate really.

Na within 8 months Tinubu get him own economy. Even his supporters both in the west and north are turning their back on him

He featured Olamide for his zazu single. Nonetheless he's one really lucky chap. The fact that he's rough outward look did not even deter someone like skepta from giving him gigs.

Skepta is Naija too and he has been tight with guys rougher and more rugged than Portable can ever hope to be from way back. Portable is still one fortunate fellow sha, and he must have some redeeming qualities that people on the outside do not see.

Benefits of French CFA while Nigeria battles inflation back to back.

Neither Atiku nor Obi would have removed subsidy on Day 1.
Heck, the refineries that Atiku had zeroed in to offload would not have been sold on Day 1.

How can you remove subsidy before appointing a substantive Minister of Petroleum?
Float the naira without a CBN governor?

The entire "what would X have done differently" does not hold water because how the other candidates would have implemented the policy is a complete hypothetical.
The Mr complained about Buhari and Emefiele's abrupt currency change policy.
Then did the exact same thing TWICE.

'I can assure you it will go immediately, I will not allow it to stay a day longer"

Do we need dictionary to interpret that statement?

I don't think anyone will want to remove subsidy. It's not a binary decision. Any commitment to keep subsidy comes with a silent "if we can afford it". You can't eat your cake and have it.

With a backlog of unsettled $7bln FX transactions to local lenders and God knows how many billions to foreign companies such as aviation companies which haven't been settled for 2 years plus, all candidates could guess what was affordable and what was not and made their policies. Selling refineries which are moribund and will be for a while have no correlation to subsidy. Nigerian refineries (certainly PH) were working when Abacha started subsidy.

Because my support for Obi was never a game. It was about the best candidate on the ballot managing Nigeria's affairs in these critical times.

In retrospect, we have come to realize all the "Obi would come a distant third" and "O lule" quips never mattered - we are all facing the consequences of people who thought and still think Nigeria's issues are nothing more than football cup games.

Fuel was #180 when he bragged in the post I quoted. It's #680 today. 378% increase. All for what?

They said they would so we'll take that at face value

Nobody is unaware of the impact of subsidy removal. There is nothing to "study". It's a difficult pill for the countries citizens to swallow and they all knew they must swallow it and agreed to swallow it in their manifestos.

If I know the effects as a common observer, a Presidential candidate surely does before making such statements. The problem is politicians will never fail to make political capital out of a shared problem.

Ibime:

Fuel subsidy is the only Govt support Nigerians receive. People will die if they remove it. Fundamentally, fuel subsidy is inefficient, but in Nigeria's case, removal of subsidy will drag people from poverty to death.

Peter Obi is for subsidy removal by the way. Some niggas go cry if they have to pay N500 per litre. N400 is the current landing cost, add jara for profit

Ibime:

The crux of the matter. Fuel subsidy is the only social support Nigeria gives to its citizens.

Also the cost of transportation can make up to 50 to 80% of the cost of basic agricultural foods that poor Nigerians eat, reason why you can buy items in the North and Middle Belt for 1/3rd to 1/2 the price in the South. Whereas cost of transportation will be like 5% of the input cost in the Western world where cost of labour is the big input cost. So the inflationary effect on Nigerians will be dire, hence economic models that say subsidies are inefficient are applicable to the Western world but as far as Nigeria, it will lead to unimaginable suffering and social turmoil if subsidy is lifted.

I'm not talking about keeping subsidy, I'm talking about how it was removed.
We could have afforded a six months extension until he had worked out modalities to ease the deleterious effect of the policy.
From an operational standpoint, it was a boneheaded move. And if Obi had done the same thing, he would have caught flak from me.

Here's the crazy part, WE ARE STILL PAYING SUBSIDY RIGHT NOW.
That stunt he pulled on Inauguration Day had zero positives, only negatives.

Will not stay "a day longer" is pretty clear.

There is no method of amelioration to removing subsidy. What will they do? Share rice as palliatives?

If you want to take hard decisions, you do so on your first day in office and give the citizens 4 years to adjust to the new reality before the next election.

So you're saying it's not necessary to analyze the situation before taking the hard decision.

Saying there are no ameliorative measures or there's only one way to take a hard decision is an awful take.

One initiative is to set up a handful of conversion facilities for registered commercial transporters. AFAIK, CNG/LPG price has comparatively lagged the non-subsidized gasoline price since the removal.

So if you're saying there's absolutely nothing that could have been done prior to a removal, then you're either debating in bad faith or your problem-solving capabilities are below par.

Not to mention, there are policymakers who are well paid to come up with actionable plans. If he and his merry band of clowns can only suggest sharing of grains, then they should willfully resign and hand the reins to serious-minded folks.

It is an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerians to tell us that because they're only capable of serving hot donkey sh*t, no one would do better.

That cannot be a suitable defense in the private sector. You're queried by your Board and you tell them, my way which is clearly a disaster is the only acceptable way and no replacement will do better. Security will be called on you. Sadly, we're unable to bundle out these misfits until 2027. And even then, it'll be a tough ask.
