I read in the book of 1samuel chapter 28 vs 11-19 where king Saul conducted a woman with familiar spirit at En'-dor to bring up the spirit of prophet Samuel My question is did God approved the uses of familiar spirit when no answer is coming forth for a long time prayer requests? ? |

GOD did not approve of it. Here is what GOD said about them in the Bible: “Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.” — Leviticus 19:31 (KJV) “And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.” — Leviticus 20:6 (KJV) “A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.” — Leviticus 20:27 (KJV) Deuteronomy 18 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¹¹ Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. ¹² For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Saul did that because GOD stopped talking to him and he wanted to know before going to the battle. But he made a grave mistake consulting with a witch before dying. |

Westerhoffe:Thanks for the explanation Though what baffled me was why the woman was able to call up the spirit of Samuel but like you said it's a grave mistake that king Saul made |

Unbreakable26:The spirit of Samuel was not in Heaven but in Hell as at that time. Necromancers can interact with the dead… a thing of abomination before GOD. There are still necromancers today. But GOD is against its practice. |

Unbreakable26:What part of what is written in that text do you consider an approval from God over that which He condemned in His Law of Moses? ![]() |

Unbreakable26:Baffled? The Law condemned the act as a sin(disobedience of God's Law), not an impossibility. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:If God condemned familiar spirit why then was it possible for the woman of familiar spirit to call up the spirit of God prophet ![]() |

Unbreakable26:God condemns lying yet it is possible to lie even against a prophet. I don't know the particular reason why God allowed the Spirit of Samuel to come up at that point. My guess is that God wanted to have that prophesy against Sault made known and it had to be done by one of His own. ![]() However, an important question to ask here is this. Do all who die have spirits that can be invoked by those like the witch of Endor? the Scriptural answer to that question is a No. Samuel had a Spirit because he was and died a prophet of God. King Saul who later died, died a sinner and hence without a spirit. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:I don't understand it Do you mean that it's not all human being that have a spirit? ? |
| Re: Did God Approved The Uses Of Familiar Spirit by Kobojunkie: 7:33pm On Feb 11, 2024 |
Unbreakable26:Not all humans acquire a spirit in this life. As Jesus Christ Himself explained in the Gospel, the only life a person obtains from his or her mother's womb is a physical(non-spiritual) life. It is only those who go on to become born-again in this life(Born of Water AND born of Spirit - John 3 vs 1 - 8) — and of course the righteous of Old Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20) — that obtain a spiritual aspect to their being. All others simply do not and so cease to exist when they die as decreed by God in Genesis 3 vs 16 - 24) where God Himself indicated that man did not have Eternal Life from his beginning— Adam failed to acquire it. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:There is a difference between the 'soul' and 'spirit'. What the witch summoned of Samuel was his 'soul' not 'spirit'. For once a man dies, his spirit returns to GOD who gave it. But the soul, the real you is what goes to wherever he/she had lived to spend their end. “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” — Ecclesiastes 12:7 (KJV) This is why you see the souls of those who had died (not their spirit) whether in Heaven or Hell. “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” — Psalms 16:10 (KJV) “And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:” — Revelation 6:9 (KJV) |

Kobojunkie:Every human born into the world has a spirit. It is this spirit that makes the person a living soul. Without the spirit, that person remains in sleep mode for as long as the spirit is absent. This is why JESUS CHRIST said: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” — John 6:63 (KJV) There JESUS CHRIST compared His Words to the 'spirit'. |
