GabrielYulaw: production of the vipers has started already and will be getting all the birds by June/July this year. For the T129 there is probability we might go for more and we might just stick to that only 5 units. I think the reason why NAF went for the T129 was because we where not getting any missiles for the AHZ viper. 2 Likes |

TROOPS NEUTRALIZE 4 INSURGENTS, RESCUE 11 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS, CAPTURE WEAPONS IN KADUNA Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA) on fighting patrol in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on 6 February 2024 made contact with insurgent. During the firefight that ensued, troops neutralized 4 insurgents while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 3 AK 47 rifles, 7 AK 47 rifle magazines and 2 motorcycles. Similarly, troops of the Division deployed at Birnin Gwari received a tip off on insurgents movement on 7 February 2024. The troops swiftly moved to intercept the insurgents at Kwaga village. The insurgents who could not withstand the fire power of the troops absconded into the forest in disarray abandoning their victims. The troops successfully rescued all 11 victims namely; Zakari Galadima 54 years (male), Ishaku Galadima 50 years (male), Habibu Illaysu 40 years (male), Nuzuli Ibrahim 18 years (male), Ramatu Aliyu 60 years (female), Ubaida Mubarak 30 years (female), Zaliha Mubarak 9 months (female), Umma Haruna 22 years (female), Khairatu Salisu 34 years (female), Rahamatu Usman 43 years (female), Rakiyia Yahaya 24 years (female) and recovered 1 motorcycle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were kidnapped on 6 February 2024 from their village at Masuku in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The victims were rendered medical attention by medical team of the Division and reunited with their families. The General Officer Commanding 1 Division NA and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Maj Gen Valentine Okoro commended the troops for success. He appealed to the general public to continue to avail troops and other security agencies with real time intelligence. He equally appealed to locals to report persons with gunshot wounds seeking paramedics attention to the troops or other security agencies for prompt action. COUNTER TERRORISM: General Shaibu Declares Counter Terrorism Practitioner Course Open In a bid to frustrate the employment of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) by terrorists in the North East Theatre of Operations, The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maj Gen W Shaibu declared open a Counter Terrorist Search Practitioner Course, organized by the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) today 12 February 2024, at Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri. Gen Shaibu while remarking said, IEDs have become the most potent weapon used by terrorists in their misadventures in the NE, adding that the menace of the device has unfortunately remained despite concerted efforts by troops and partners over time. He averred that the training was tailored towards equipping all arms personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge required to participate in low - risk combat search task to help in safely detecting IEDs, urging them to be committed, dedicated and purposeful as they go through the course, so as to come out better informed on safe detection of IEDs. He equally charged them to make the course a worthy endeavour to save lives of troops and civilians in their area of responsibilities. Gen Shaibu used the medium to express his gratitude to the BMATT for their efforts in the training, the Theatre Training Officer, 47 Engineer Brigade, as well as staff officers for ensuring the course came to fruition. In attendance were the Acting GOC 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK Brig Gen AGL Haruna, Component Commanders, staff officers from Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Div, Programme Manager Operation TURUS Stephen Mockett and team of instructors from BMATT.

TROOPS BURST ANOTHER RIFLE FABRICATION FACTORY IN PLATEAU, RECOVER CACHE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION In it's determination to clear troubled regions of Plateau State from criminal activities, Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN under HAKORIN DAMISA IV during a clearance operations on rugged mountainous terrain discovered an isolated structure which turned out to be a weapons fabrication factory situated on a high ground in Pakachi Village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. During the operation, a significant number of illicit firearms and related equipment were recovered and one suspect apprehended. The operation resulted in the arrest of Mr. Tapshak Plangji, a 25-year-old male, suspected to be involved in the illegal activities at the factory. The alleged owner of the facility, Mr. Nuhu Meshack, is currently at large and efforts are underway to bring him to justice. Items recovered from the facility include: - 5 AK 47 Rifles - 4 AK 47 Magazines - 11 Rounds of 7.62mm Ammunition - 5 Rounds of 9mm Ammunition - 21 Dane Guns - 4 Revolver Rifles - 11 Pistols with 5 Magazines - 17 Gun Barrels - 6 Rounds of 0.44 Inch Ammunition - A Carbide Cylinder with Accessories - 3 Saws - 12 Filing Machines - 4 Hammers - 6 Manual Drilling Machines - 2 Electrically Operated Filing Machines - 2 G-Clamps - One Spraying Machine - One Tiger Generator - Assorted Drilling Irons The suspect, Mr. Plangji, along with the recovered rifles and other items, are currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation. The successful operation is a testament to the commitment of the troops in collaboration with other security agencies in the fight against illegal arms proliferation and criminal activities within our communities. It also underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between security agencies and local communities in safeguarding our nation from threats posed by illicit arms production and trafficking.
